Finally have the airship, you get it way too late in this game. The (water) ship travel is annoying.

Just landed on the castle surrounded by mountains. I think there are only 3 dungeons left in the game. Can I finish it in under 20 hours??? :P
You should be able to. I'm in the middle of the Mysidian Tower, so that just leaves the Cyclone and then I'm where you are. You're right that there's only three dungeons left; the castle, Jade Passage, and Pandemonium. Overall a pretty short game, but it's got a quite a lot of story to it, especially for the time.

Yeah, loving that game. I think I have like 70 hours in it at this point.

Tales of Phantasia

Chugging along in my game. Defeated Demitel (took three tries) and joined up with Arche.

Is it just me or in FFX Tidus sounds like Charlie Sheen when he narrates?

Made the Dark Emperor my bitch, now I'm doing Soul of Rebirth. This is already going better than the time I tried it on my GBA. It's amazing how a little training of Minwu can help.

Did you use the blood sword?

I used the blood sword.

Interestingly I could only find one in the GBA port, but I swear there were two in older versions of the game???

Correct on both counts. In the NES/PSX release there was a second Blood Sword in the Mysidian Tower. I think they intentionally dropped it down to one starting with the GBA release to force you to make a choice as to whether you want it in the main game or in your Soul of Rebirth game. Having a second one is just overkill for the main game, so the second would always go with Ricard.

Yeah I think they replaced one of the blood swords with a staff or something.

The Emperor was still easy as hell even with one sword. The fight only lasted a few rounds.

Another thing about the GBA version - without the spell cancel trick I found it completely pointless to try to level up the high-level attack spells like Flare and Ultima, as you get them so late in the game. I was able to roll with Fire/Blizzard/Thunder through the whole thing.
