Just noticed that the C64 version is on eBay right now... Too bad it's a cassette.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
I'll be playing the (emulated) arcade version as I don't own a console port.

Well still working my way through the Shrine in Ys I. Already freed Feena and took her to Jeba. I'm equipped currently with the Talwar, silver shield, reflex armor, and shield ring. Weird how that is stacked right now. Hopefully I'll beat this before the end of next week...fun game so far

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
The PSP game makes the Feena rescue an escort mission. On the older versions of Ys she walks her own damn self home!
Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
Yeah, i'll have to see what you mean later whenever I get around to the other versions. I only have the psp version on my vita so that's what I'm playing. Doesn't bother me that much to escort her back to town(it's not as annoying as the one in zelda which I think is in twilight princess(?)). I just want to get through this even though it's fun so maybe I can possibly attack Ys II since I keep hearing you can't really play one without the other(sounds just like how golden sun I and II worked...)

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
Well Ys I and II are simply very similar games in terms of core mechanics and graphics. They kind of run together like one long game. In fact, on the Turbo CD port of Ys Book I & II you must play Ys I first, there's no menu to pick one game or the other.
Ys II actually has a subtitle of "The Final Chapter" which always makes me chuckle.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
1. Strider (Arcade/PS2)
2. Thief Gold (PC)
3. Ys II (PC)
4. System Shock 2 (PC)
5. The Typing of the Dead (DC)
6. Marvel vs. Capcom (Arcade/PS3/DC)
7. Bushido Blade (PS1)
8. Wario Land (Virtual Boy)
9. Spyro the Dragon (PS1)
10. Eye of the Beholder (Sega CD)
Ys II is done, and so is my second Summer Games Challenge title.
I don't know that I liked Ys II more than Ys I when I played it a while back for TR. It is much of the same, sure, but I think I liked the narrative much better in Ys I (though it isn't the strong suit of either). Still, it was a fun romp for which I only minimally needed a guide and the Steam port seemed like a pretty full-fledged version of it to play.
Any suggestions for what to play next? I am thinking of tackling the two DC games...

Try to unlock all of the characters in Marvel vs. Capcom. A lot of them are just palette swaps, but it's totally worth it to unlock Roll.

Also, let me know when you plan to start up Virtual Boy Wario Land so that I can try to play that one with you.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
This thread reminded me that I'm about due for a replay of Ys II.

This thread reminds me that I need to pick shorter Summer Challenge games, because apparently everyone else is already blazing through their list, and I've not finished a single game yet.BoneSnapDeez wrote:This thread reminded me that I'm about due for a replay of Ys II.
