Just like video games - I'm stuck in the 90s.
By "new" I just mean "anything I haven't heard already before" :P
Oh, well, same here too.

Sometimes I pop into those "best new releases" type threads at sites like the Metal Archives and I have no idea what anyone is talking about.

Divine Intervention has a couple bangers but it's forgettable for the most part.
South of Heaven has the most inappropriate vocals I have no idea why Araya started singing like that. But yeah that album they adopted a lot of stylistic quirks that seemed to stay with them from that point onward, and I for one don't care for that sound at all.
I really like Seasons in the Abyss but don't care to listen to South of Heaven too often. But anything post-Seasons I just don't listen to. It's like Metallica. I don't listen to anything post-And Justice For All(and I don't really listen to that one that often anymore either). That said, at least with Slayer I've never heard anyone say "Yeah, Slayer's new stuff is great!" the way they do about Metallica. Have you ever had that conversation?

"Oh man, I love metal! Metallica is awesome!"
"So what is your favorite album? Master of Puppets? Ride the Lightning?"
"Eww, no, I don't like their old stuff. But after the Black Album, they were great."

This is usually followed by my laughter.

Anyway, the last album I picked up was Skeletonwitch's Beyond the Permafrost, since I didn't own a copy, and before that, an F.K.Ü. album, Where Moshers Dwell.

I haven't listened to anything past Reign in Blood, so I won't be adding any salt.
I just think the song is okay; it's a bland and flavorless but inoffensive (as can be for a Metal song) song. Kinda like white rice with some salt.

You just now bought that album?
Eh, the important part's that you have it now. Such a great album. Either that or Serpents Unleashed is their best work.

Yeah yeah, I used to be poor and didn't actually buy the music I listen to. I'd use Pandora or Grooveshark a lot, or even playlists on YouTube if necessary. So I'm just now getting to go back and pick up a lot of the albums I always wanted to own but didn't.

Anyway, I have to admit that I am partial to Forever Abomination, if only for Reduced to the Failure of Prayer. But Beyond the Permafrost was my introduction to Skeletonwitch, so I'm glad to finally have it in my collection. Now to go back to filling out that impossibly large backlog of metal albums...

For me it was Seasons in the Abyss. Krokus is cool, they're a bit cheesy in my opinion but in the good way.
