I'll give the example of a full size truck because that is what I drive and have more experience with. A brand new 4x4 full size Silverado will cost about $42,000 MSRP. A 2013 with 30,000 miles with the same or better options will be under $30,000. And that is a vehicle that holds its value pretty well in my area.
This is becoming much less the case when considering dealer incentives and rising price of used cars. When I bought my wife's currnt vehicle, they had a very similar one used with 5k miles for only $400 less than what I paid for hers new and was a model year newer as well.

If you finance, you almost always get a better rate on a new car as well. You can also factor in that used cars will require maintenance before a new car will.

Relearning OSX since I just fixed a Powerbook G4 (For those keeping track at home, yes it is PPC based). I have always viewed PCs as tools but there are a couple things with OSX that just irk me. The weirdest of them all is that I cannot find a cursor speed that is just right - they all seem to slow or too fast compared to Windows and LinuxMint/Ubuntu. Ill get over it, but since it has been a couple years since I have had to use OSX heavily, I thought I should get used to it again at atleast an enduser level (just incase work throws me a curveball).

Thankfully, terminal is still there and still uses many linux commands.

But all I need is something reliable that can get me from a to b, and back to a.

This is true. My truck gets horrible gas mileage, but it is utilitarian and I actually use the 4 wheel drive. We have trailers in a field and when it rains, it is a necessity. I also have all terrain tires for that purpose and not huge mud tires that only see pavement. That being said, I am also on the hunt for a cheap gas saver for the point a to b situations.

Just get a '03 civic, mine is great  sure i wouldn't mind having at least 2010 model car but I digress since my honda works great and I'm in the works of next month hopefully doing some long overdue maintenance on it(or at least by the end of summer)

When video game sequels eventually reach their 64th iterations, it's going to be a very confusing time to start collecting for the Nintendo 64.

Luckily that won't happen because every game ever made will have undergone at least one market research driven 'gritty reboot' and they'll all just have the same name as the first entry again.

Kinda like a lot of stuff now

This is my kinda stuff:

I'm pretty sure my deal is that I'm so caught up with new stuff so much that it makes me long for the past. That, and new music doesn't grasp my attention.

Well I'd never really paid attention to names of actors in The Wizard of Oz, but now the line "cause all the sausages that dance like Ray Bolger on the hood of a car in the traffic jam" makes a little bit more sense.
