What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Smile: Dad called me as I was leaving work, "Hey, there's a free arcade cabinet over here (Superior) - you want me to get it for you?"

Me: "probably, what do you know about it?"
Dad: "says not working. It's a turtles in time cabinet."
Me: "yeah, for sure - I can't go tonight though, have scouts w/the boys."
Dad: "I'll go pick it up and drop it off."

Got home from scouts just now - a TMNT cab in the garage. Thing is absolutely gutted. No bezel, no access panels, no pcb, monitor has a crack, looks to have a bunch of mouse hair or something in it. The control panel looks "ok", missing a button, but otherwise ok.

Still a smile - because my dad is just the best.

Sounds like all you need to do is some maintenance work on stand get a few parts and it might be good once again(especially to get the pcb or at least make your own if that's even possible)

smile - only one more week this wednesday until I start my new full time job with harris teeter...I know it's overnight but still better than working part time...

:) The Retron 5 reviews are starting to roll in. Hopefully we'll see this thing soon. Earlier today there was a live stream of TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist being played on a Retron5.

:D My daughter adores the Turtles if you haven't figured that out by looking at the other picture threads. When she saw the live stream she ran and grabbed her TMNT action figures and built a big building out of blocks for them to fight in. After a bit she kept asking me if I wanted to play the game with her, so I got it all set up. I played Don and she chose Raph and "we" played a couple stages (Okay, I played the stages and she walked right, occasionally hitting somebody). When we finished we drew Kit a late Mother's Day card and what do you think she wanted to draw? Yup:
I drew the outlines, but she did all the coloring in:

I guess today was Turtle day.

:) That is until it was time to go to bed. She had enough of the Half Shelled Heroes and wanted to watch Kiki's Delivery Service. She FINALLY fell asleep a few minutes ago.

Being a dad is pretty kick-ass sometimes most of the time.

Hey kiki's delivery service doesn't sound like a bad way to end the day...I really need to go back and rewatch that one soon

I had someone send me their broken Game Gear to replace the capacitors on and my $80 soldering station iron decided to die on me as soon as I started, that'll only cost $10 to repair thankfully. Luckily I had a spare although it's a $10 piece of junk from Radioshack. I forgot to take pictures of the screen before but you couldn't see anything on it and now it's perfect.

Going to a flea market in the morning then back to Goodwill to return a PS2 I bought with a dead laser. I said I would never buy a PS2 from there because of the high failure rate but the price was right and low and behold the laser is dead.

Well but they'll only give store credit last I checked(at least the ones in my area and it's for that specific goodwill which sucks)

Not at all. She absolutely adores the Ghibli films, especially My Neighbor Totoro. We have watched that one so many times and it makes me incredibly happy because I remember when I was little and renting the VHS from our local video store repeatedly.

(We watch the Fox/Streamline dub of Totoro)

I called them and they said they would do a cash refund even on electronics. Even getting store credit back is better than losing $25 for sure. I'd still be happy with that.

 : Brother kind of ticked me off today. My mom is now working up in Charleston and spends Monday through Friday up there to get out of having a 2-3 hour commuted each day. After spending about a month with her sister she decided to move into an apartment but she didn't have any furniture. We have a lot of extra furniture taking up space around the house so we gathered up a few things to take over tomorrow. One of them is a large end table that I bought for myself a while back and which has been occupied by all my charging stations for last gen controllers. I offered it to her since she needs something to sit under the 27 inch Sony Trinitron that I talked her into buying last week  . So I clear it off and move it out of the corner it's been stuck in. Then my dad yelled across the house asking for help with the computer so I left my brother the task of carrying it down stairs.

It took maybe 5 minutes tops to show my dad how to print using the new Microsoft office online crap. I get back upstairs and see my brother fiddling around with the cabinet I have all my last gen systems setup in :P. That is when I see he has stood my PS3 and 360 on their sides and crammed all of the charging docks in there. On top of that he has plugged a power strip onto another already full power strip so he could have enough sockets to plug everything in .

So I give him the talk about how it is a definite no no plugging power strips into other power strips and how it's not exactly a good idea to stand my 360 and PS3 on their sides since it screws with the ventilation on the 360 and is hard on the systems in general on top of making it easy for them to fall over since I don't have stands to stabilize them :P. I told him to just leave the stuff alone and I would reorganize it later.

He then commenced to blowing up on me. Basically telling me I am a worthless piece of crap, my shit is always in the way, and how I am a failure who will never leave home. He then stormed out of the house and worked in the yard for an hour before coming back in and acting like nothing happened. He has a lot of shit on his plate right now between college, a recent break up, and work. However I really didn't appreciate the trashing.

Seems like shit like this is happening on a weekly if not daily basis and it's getting really depressing. With my mom no longer in the house during the week it's just me and my bipolar brother and father and whenever they get stressed I am the one they blow up on :P.

Anyways just needed to vent.

I know that feel bro. Sounds a lot like my situation after Katrina and being stuck in a house for weeks with my nutjob dad and brothers. Hope things get better for ya.
