I think it's the best of the 3. I like the fact that it is linear, it holds the story together.

Those are some good picks.
Yeah most of what's in my collection right now that counts is RPGs. And I really want to beat those maybe next year I'll have more variety to pick from
I don't know anything about Pokemon but the combined length of Crystalis, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Ys, and Final Fantasy Adventure is still well under 60 hours. So shorter than a lot of modern RPGs. I love how short and streamlined they used to make 'em.

You may be tempted to play Ys II as well, as it's on the same compilation as Ys I.

And make sure that you one day check out the sequel to Final Fantasy Adventure: Secret of Mana. I can't stress that enough. Great game.
Yeah i think that was the plan with ys(since I've heard that the story of II is kinda where 1 really left off). And yeah I've planned to play the whole mana series eventually. The only problem is that with all the games on my list i can't decide which to play next now that I finally beat smb. All of them sound way to good to make a choice ha ha

played about an hour of Wonder Boy In Monster World. Really fun. But...

APPARENTLY SAVES DON'T WORK IN THE GENESIS COMPILATION ON STEAM SO YOU HAVE TO KNOW TO SAVESTATE!

...so now all that progress is lost. :\

Unrelated, but Fallout looks intense. I'm kind of excited. I downloaded the extras from GOG. There's The Fallout Bible which is 200 page companion book.

I think I've decided on my list for this summer.
1. Kirby's Adventure
2. Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers
3. Super Metroid
4. Super Castlevania IV
5. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - I want something I can play on the go so I'm choosing this over OOT
(unless I get the 3DS version before I start this)
6. Pikmin - which version should I play, GameCube or Wii?
7. Metal Slug
8. Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - gives me a Mario game and another portable option
9. Donkey Kong Country 2
10. Saving this last spot - likely for an RPG

Thoughts? Dsh, any issues here?

Bah, my Saturn doesn't want to run X-men Vs. Street Fighter. It'll get to the title screen, but once you press start it goes black and that's that.

I read something about an action replay mod that deals with this problem, but the pcb on my action replay doesn't even come close to matching the pictures I've seen, so I can't even try it.

Guess I'll have to find some other way to play the game.

On another note, I'm thinking of filling out my list to 10 after all. Because variety is a good thing, even it I still only beat 5 of the 10.

Still debating on what else to add though.

Well, I just finished the Greek section of John Romero's Daikatana. I'm sorry to see it go, as I love the weapons and the design of those levels, but I'm happy to be moving on. Now I have to get through the Dark Ages levels, and then finally the 2030 levels to finish the game. Let's see how it goes.

random Summer Games thought... no matter how many times I try to wrap my head around it, I'll never keep track of the whole Wonder Boy series titles. I mean the game I'm playing is Wonder Boy In Monster World right? Except that's not the arcade game of the same name. It's actually known in Japan as Monster World V: Wonder Boy III... I mean?

There is no Arcade game called Wonder Boy in Monster World.

You're either thinking of Wonder Boy in Monster Land (whixh is the 2nd wonder boy game, and the 1st monster world games) or Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair (which is the 3rd wonder boy game, but isnt part of the monster world series at all).

This is the series in it's entirety:

Wonder Boy (Arcade, SG1000 and Master System) - ported to NES as Adventure Island
Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Arcade & master system) - ported to PC Engine CD as Bikkuriman World - this is the 1st in the monster world series
Wonder Boy 3: Monster Lair (Arcade and Mega Drive) - ported to Turbo CD as Monster Lair - not part of the monster world series
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (Master System) - Ported to the Turbografx as Dragon's Curse. A totally different game to the other Wonder Boy 3. This is the 2nd in the Monster World series
Wonder Boy in Monster World (Mega Drive & Master System) - Ported to Turbografx as The Dynastic Hero. The 3rd game in the Monster World series. Not to be confused with Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Monster World IV - The last game in the Monster World series, not technically part of the Wonder Boy series.

I left off the extra confusing stuff (Brazilian versions, the one which was called Adventure Island in Japan but isnt actually part of the Adventure Island series etc.), but it's still pretty complicated!

Like I said, try as I might... The Wonder Boy/Adventure Island/Monster World "series" is just baffling. I mean, look at that list you gave... there's TWO GAMES called Wonder Boy III haha.

Anyway, I'm gonna prob give it another go tonight, though I'd like to try to get a head-start on one of the longer games too this week. (Thinking maybe Fallout).

Also occurred to me that instead of the 360 pad for Wonder Boy, I might want to use this:

as it would be pretty close to a Genesis style controller. 8)
