thanks all
The heater guy just left.
There is a short in the control board that keeps shutting off the blower. Without the blower moving the hot air out of the furnace the furnace gets too hot and shuts off. So its a hit or miss thing, depending on how often the fan shorts out. The reason I just noticed it is that since it is real cold her in Ohio right now the chance of the fan being used and shorting increases.
As for the budget... I always have money budgeted for emergencies, but I consider it "untouchable" but my regular savings account is lower because of Christmas, yes my wife and I buy each other and our son gifts. I would rather not tap that extra source but it looks as if I will have to.
Depending on the price of a new control board (they will call me with the exact model-my heater is 19yrs old so the dude and I think that I need the cheap board but he gave me prices for the old and new ones) and the removing and cleaning of the blower fan (its horribly nasty) I will be paying anywhere from $480-$680.
The funny thing is that it may take a week (again cause of the holiday) until the part is in (yeah the cheap one for older models they have to order) and installed. Oh well... the wife decided to bake more cookies thinking that the oven being on will help heat the house. So that is good for me.

Well it doesn't sound like he's out of the woods yet -- here's to the quote being on the low end!
I just had the starter on my fridge go out this weekend. Luckily I was able to throw the food on my deck and sunroom until it was fixed
Keep us posted and best of luck!
