I swear the cable Microsoft sent me had a little do-hickey on it. Or perhaps I'm being too cautious (which I am in every situation).
Shame on me for not labeling stuff as Dreamcast/Ps2/oxbox cords all look the same to me. I'm worried I'll scramble my console if I use the wrong cord.
Live and you learn I guess, as I see no reason to buy a new cord as the power device is housed in the system.
I'll figure it out but thanks for the chiming in. You dudes rule.

That brick isn't to convert the current, it's to cut off electricity under certain conditions so the system doesn't become a fire hazard.
Same idea as the safety outlets next to your sink.
