Can anyone tell me if the PS2 version supports button mapping?

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Well, I already own the PS2 DoDonPachi game, and loved it. I have also already pre-ordered the DoDonPachi game for Xbox 360 to play on my import console. So I am already sold on the series, obviously, but am curious about the differences. Doc, can you share your wisdom with your brother here and enlighten me on what the "Label" differences and such mean? I want to be informed, so I know what to expect from the Xbox 360 version, and what all my PS2 version actually has. Thanks in advance man!

Death Label is the boss-rush mode included with the PS2 version - Black Label is a variation of the original that was released as a limited edition in the arcade. The 360 version includes the original, Black Label and X Mode (which is for beginners).

I'd never heard of X mode before...sounds interesting! Tell me more.

As noted above, the PS2 version does not include Black Label. It was a version released in the arcades that changed some scoring mechanics. Essentially only high-level players will really notice. In the second loop, the original takes away all your remaining lives, but Black Label lets you keep going with your current stock. In the original, you couldn't credit-feed through Hibachi for practice, but in Black Label you can. The way the hyper meter acts is also very slightly different. There are a few other tiny differences that are said to give BL a better balance: a slightly harder first loop :!: , and a slightly easier second loop.

It is not a different game, but Black Label is considered the ultimate way to play DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou.

Of course, the 360 version will also include online leaderboards, achievements and whatever HD filters they choose to apply. I think there is no doubt that the 360 version will be superior in every way, but there is always a chance that they (5pb) screw something up. And some people will be upset by the HD look and the non-support of 240p...not me!

Not much to tell, I got the info from a translated version of this post on famitsu's website; http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1218286_1407.html
-There will be an arcade mode which will be a faithful port of DDP Dai Ou Jou Black Label called 'Black Label Mode'
-A 'White Version' which represents a pre-version of the game as well as a 'DDP Dai Ou Jou' version are being prepared.
-An original 360 version called 'X Mode' aimed at beginners will also be included.
-No HD resolution version, but you'll be able to adjust different levels of anti-aliasing for the game.
-Only Stereo, with original Mono available for the arcade version. There will be 3 different types of arranged versions to choose from as well.
-There will be new BGMs for the title screens by the original composer Manabu Namiki.
-There will be a Tate Mode, Score Ranking, and Replay functions.
Not sure what that 'White Version' bits about though, any ideas Dr?

A complete Cave Shooting collection appearing on home console would be pants-wettingly fantastic. I can only dream of such a day.

I'm certain that licensing/publisher issues would make that difficult (given that Cave has published titles through different people like Atlus, Capcom and others). Not to mention that Cave have blatantly said they are not concerned with western gamers in general, and indeed less concerned with the arcade and home console markets after their 2007 financial report showed that both were barely breaking even, and not in the company's interests.

Thanks for the information! I don't know what the White Version is, perhaps some sort of prototype that shows only wire-frames (ie., game mechanics intact but graphics not completed).

Everything sounds great. Hopefully there are lots of Tate options like there is in Ikaruga XBLA, and not just one. I also hope the "replay function" includes saving, uploading, and downloading.

I'm getting excited; but my novice level of play won't take advantage of all the new features, I'm sure.

Just pre-ordered it. FYI, for what it's worth, Play-Asia is offering a $4 discount for buying DoDonPachi along with Ketsui. Every little bit helps, I suppose.

Still no date for Death Smiles though, they won't let me pre-order it.
