I'd like it to be an on-going thing - so ultimately any and all Neo fighters are fair game. I'll shoot you a full list tonight, but only the KoF's seemed to be priced below normal market.KalessinDB wrote:I went in for KoF 2002 just out of random choice honestly, but it occurred to me -- if you're thinking of doing the competition thing you were discussing, I might want to get the same one others are getting. @ninja - AoF3 is pricey man, like $75. KoM2 is not cheap either, would be around $65 :/

Re: Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES
Well Noise, I have some bad news for you I'm afraid.
I finally beat the first contestant (Fo) in the NeoGeo semis at NeoGeo world and got some crappy C card in return and a bunch of duplicates.
The next opponent (Kei) beat me quickly. Went back and can confirm that you do indeed have to start again with Fo.
Basically you have to win all three semi-final games in a row, there is, therefore little point in grinding for cards in the tournament.
They all seem to have killer SNK decks (I'm guessing in the SNK version of the game this is reversed).
If anyone has any tips about how to get the better cards I'd like to hear them as it seems you will need some high level cards (900-1000) to compete at this stage of the game.

wow, serious bummer man. I've got a couple of 1,000 cards (Terry, Blodia) and one 1,200 (Mecha Zengief) but beyond that the bulk of my deck is prob 400-600 level cards. Damn dude. This new information may really slow down my progress.

I wonder if the game was designed this way with the expectation that people would get a lot of their cards through trading with other gamers.noiseredux wrote:wow, serious bummer man. I don't have anything as good as your Mecha Zangief. I have Blodia but he's useless until you get a lot of SP. I think I have him deselected from my deck. I've a lot of 600-800 cards and some good team ups and action cards but if there's some key to getting the better cards then I'm missing it.
Been playing MotM a lot more. Although I wish there was a way to unlock characters faster, it's great for a 20 minute session.

I think I have two Blodias active in my deck. Sure they cost 10 SP, but they're nice to keep in hand and have a ton of HP to burn if you happen to have the SP saved up.

Re: Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES
I fired up my copy of CFC: SNK Version last night. I hadn't played in it in a while after beating it, but all of this talk made me curious to try it again. I went the distance again last night and beat all 20 tournament players.
I've forgotten where I sourced my best cards, but my deck was rocking 3 Akumas, 3 Terry Bogards, plus a Krauser and Geese with 3 Billy Kanes for support.
I can say with confidence that if you want to be able to beat the last 2 to 3 tournament characters, you should purge your deck of all cards with BP less than or equal to 600. The weakest card I had in my deck was Morrigan at 600 BP but she more than compensates for it with crazy SP and an ability that generates even more SP in return for sacrificing cards.
The other things I should mention about strategy is this:
-Sometimes it's better not to block. If you have the SP for a Union attack, and you can stack your attacking characters in such a way that one of your characters will be removed from the board if your opponent chooses to block, it makes sense to just let the attack through. This way, the next turn, you'll be able to push your union attack through, and possibly free up a space for another character card.
-If you do block, it's oftentimes better to chump block than block with a stronger character. Let's say your opponent attacks with a card with 900 BP, and you can block with either a 1000 BP or a 600 BP. The better play is to chump-block with the 600 BP, since that leaves your opponent with a neutered card that now has only 300 BP, and it gives you one free space to play another card and accumulate SP.
-Playing a character card as "back up" is a fantastic play when you have three character cards in play and an excess of character cards in your hand. Or, when the additional battle points from support are just what you need to kill your opponent off.

Fair enough. No need for the full list, I trust your judgement on the pricing a hell of a lot more than I would my own. I'll probably just stick with picking 1 or 2 pseudo-randomly every time you do a group buymjmjr25 wrote:I'd like it to be an on-going thing - so ultimately any and all Neo fighters are fair game. Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

All good advice. These are also the tactics I favour. I think that both Noise and I are playing the Capcom version of the game though. I can't speak for Noise but I haven't seen any of the cards in your killer hand in that version of the game (although I have seen finalists field them) so I'm guessing most are exclusive to the SNK version.dedalusdedalus wrote:I fired up my copy of CFC: SNK Version last night. Should I consider buying cards at the shop perhaps?

Re: Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES
yeah, basically all those tips were ones I'm doing. But it comes down to cards. Sure, you can take a few hits instead of blocking to set yourself up. But if your hand only has a bunch of 300, 400 BP cards then meh.
(and yeah, I'm playing Capcom version).
It's just kind of a bummer. I've put in like 16 hours or something like that, and now all the sudden feel like all the motivation sucked out of me even though I'm "close" to the end.

Re: Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES
These are my "top" cards in terms of BP which seems to be a critical factor:
SNK
Kim BP 700 SP +2
Nakororu(T) BP 600 SP +4
Jubei BP 600 SP +2
Akari(S) BP 500 SP+4
A. Asamiya BO 600 SP+1
CAPCOM
Ken BP 700 SP+2
Zangief BO 700 SP+2
Morrigan(P) BP 700 SP+5
Victor BP 700 SP+0
Daigo BP 800 SP+0
Daigo aside, one of them are too great although I have plety of backups for the likes of Zangief and Ken/Ryu
Action cards I tend to use AWAKENING, GRACE, LIGHTNING AND COVER FIRE
Maybe someone can tell me where I need to be strengthening. I can see that I'm missing a real "Tank" card.
