Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
Damn, I never got in on SFA3.
I've been too damn busy.

Sigh... cosidering the thread in question deals with with DC exclusively, I didn't think there was a need tobe specific about platform. The game didnt get a release stateside for Dreamcast. This is Dreamclub after allFlake wrote:FTFY - and having played the Dreamcast version of CvS2, it is a little different from the GCN and PS2 ports of the same.
And I'm plenty aware of the difference in each version with respects to the games US ports. But thanks nonetheless.

Whoa there, I wasn't being snide. Just specific in case someone else read this and jumped to the wrong conclusion. I meant no offense.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

At work and can't capture images - i'm referring to:
US release - a darker background w/a pic of Terry Bogard.
JP release - a light background w/side face shot of Ryu
Are these the same CvS game?
CvS2 has Chun Li centered iirc.

Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
I think that's right. I know that the JP CVS2 has Chun Li on it so I think those other two you are describing are both legit CvS1.

Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
I know you weren't. But the question was in regards to region differences (not console port differences) which do not apply to CVS2 in this case for obvious reasons.Flake wrote:Whoa there, I wasn't being snide. mjmjr mentioned the sub moniker "Millennium Fight" which was given to CVS1 in all territories. I mentioned CVS2 because he may have confused it with that game seeing as it has 2 different sub monikers...

Umm, the US release of CVS1 has both characters in question in the cover art. JPN version of the same game has Kyo and Ryu punching each other.
Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
I think I know why there's some confusion, here. There was a JPN release called Capcom vs SNK Pro: Millennium Fight 2000.
Is here:

The regular CVS release was the same, I think, save the covers.
US release (I have):

JPN release (I have not):

Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
Yes. There was a "Pro" version for the US, and it was the PSX port, I believe?
Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
Correct. Its the only version of "Pro" to get released stateside. But that's beside the point.foxhound1022 wrote:Yes. There was a "Pro" version for the US, and it was the PSX port, I believe?
Pro was originally ported to DC in japan after its arcade run on Naomi. Its a minor updated version of vanilla CvS1. Minor character buffs and nerfs, The Ratio system got tweaked, score bug got fixed, and very minor cosmetic changes overall. The most apperant thing that sets it appart from the original CVS1 is the addition of Dan Hibiki and a barebones iteration of Joe Higashi added to Ratio 1 lineup.
Re: Dreamclub: Street Fighter Alpha 3
Started CvS last night - the difficulty curve is much lower than SFA3. In fact, I'd say that after two weeks of SFA3, my ability level is probably a little higher than it was the last time I came at this game.
Smooth sailing until Geese ("You will have rong death") who stomped me flat three times last night. I think I'll have him figured out here soon, though.
What I'm loving about this game for the Dreamclub is that with the slightly less frantic difficulty level and the wacky take on team selection, it's going to be fun to take a step back and determine the best way to build up a top score. The grading system is very quirky and I've noticed that if you don't use the characters full range of moves, it will begin punishing you for repetition.
