Mirrors edge for PC...anyone waiting for this?

Game should be pretty epic with the support of the PhyX engine by Nvidia that the console versions did not get.

I also decided to hold off on a new video card for a bit longer untill I see how the new nvidia GTX 295 is. I much rather end up with a nvidia solution for the best video card over ati.

I asked for the PS3 version for Christmas on the grounds of extra DLC. Though impressive, the cloth simulation additions for the PC version add nothing of note to the game, so I'm holding off.

As for video cards, the current best 'bang for buck' card is the ATI 4850 by my count. It's at that sweet spot of 'lower-high-end' which is very affordable yet still obscenely powerful. At 720p I can completely max out Crysis and get a consistent 30fps+ framerate.

DLC? What does that be?

Eitherway I don' own a ps3 or xbox360 so I have no choice but to go with the supeior pc version. So far I have had no reason to buy a next gen system. Fallout3, mirrors edge etc have all come on pc and are better then the console versions. If resident evil 5 does not come on pc then i will have a reason to buy a next gen console. My old 8800GT is still holding up very well these days. But then RE5 justl like RE4 I'm sure will be getting a pc release.

Is it just me or has the PC been getting more console ports in recent years...?

I only as of recent got back in to pc gaming but it seems anything worth damn on consoles these days get a pc release. So far no console exclusive is making me want to get a next gen system. Maybe I'll get a ps3 for MGS but untill the price drops low enough i'm not even gonna consider it.

I also don't wanna get a ps3 untill it stops being a giant block. I'll wait for the redesign. (Maybe what 2 years from now?)

DLC = downloadable content, in the case of Mirror's Edge that means extra levels.

It's more that all games are designed around both PC and console. Capcom in particular develops all its games for PCs first, then ports to consoles, finding it an easier method than developing for a particular console and porting to the other platforms. The PC version is released a few months after the console release for various optimisation reasons, and possibly fears of piracy.

Honestly if it wasn't for the Securom(sic) that EA so kindly equips all of their PC titles with, I would be all over the PC version of Mirror's Edge. Maybe I can get a Steam distribution down the road instead.
