Anybody playing PSO2? I play with the english patch on the PC and in Japanese on the Vita. It's really fun, but it often makes me miss hooking up my Dreamcast. May pop in the original PSO sometime soon and give it another go.

jinx, how would I go about obtaining the PC version, how much would it cost, and how would I patch it? I'd certainly love to get in on that.

Its a pain in the ass to get set up (At least for me it was, fucking Kanji Captcha is my bane), but PSO2 is fantastic.

You have your Vita set to Japanese, Jinx? I might start playing again if I could get it running on that.

Ugh, sorry for the delayed response. I was subscribed to this thread, but I'm no longer receiving emails...
Getting an account is the hardest part, but it's not too bad. As dunpeal2064 said, the Hiragana Captcha is the worst part. Using Google Chrome will translate most of the page for you. I may do a tutorial on it, but there are already several floating about.

The game is completely free. Just download it and set up a free account. Patching is easy but takes a long time, especially if you have a slow internet connection.

Nope. I ended up buying the actual game from Japan. PSO2 is freaking HUGE on the Vita and requires at least a 16GB memory card to install from the store. I got a free 8GB card from BestBuy so there was no way I was about to drop tons of money on a 16GB card AND have to switch the region on my Vita.

Buying the physical game allows me to keep my Vita set to North America, but the PSO2 patches still take up 7GB of my 8GB card.

Wait, you can leave the Vita set to NA, and still play PSO2? I would seriously consider a 16g card and the physical game purchase, if so.

How does online work on the Vita? I assume we could play together, since we both are on NA consoles, but could we still party up with people playing in Japan? Can PC players join in with Vita players in the same group?

good info, and I had no idea the PC version was free. That's kind of crazy. I'm gonna have to look into this.

You can stick with an 8GB if you have the Physical copy of the game, but I would still recommend a 16GB since the patches are getting larger. The 16GB is only required if you're downloading the game from PSN with a Japanese account.

The Vita version is the same as the PC version with the settings turned down. It's your same character no matter what version you're playing, and you are still on the Japanese servers playing with PC players. As long as you're on the same ship/block as your friend, you can play together no matter what.

The only issue I have with the Vita is that it will start to lag a lot if the block is over-populated. If that's the case, simply switch to another block.

*Edit
When buying the Physical game, you are supposed to get some free stuff that can only be obtained by spending Arks Cash (real money). However, I have yet to figure out how to get these items. If either of you get the physical copy and figure it out, please let me know. I maybe screwed because I bought a used copy of the game though...

-Note on Arks Cash:
It's not needed, but can get you some pretty neat items. Getting Arks Cash is possibly one of the hardest things to do. You need a Japanese Address (which is fairly easy. Just get a forwarding address), but you also need to use WebMoney or somehow get PSO2 Top-up Cards.

after fumbling thru the Harigana capcha, I've got a PSO2 acct set up, and downloading the game right now. This could be a huge timesuck haha.

How do I apply the English patch?

^helps a lot. It's a little outdated, but you can get thru it. Just waiting for the huge ass 3.3GB download now.

You're my fav PSO partner though, so yeah get on that!

Took my 4 or 5 times to get the capcha right, via Wikipedia's Harigana page, copy/pate in time before it reloaded itself.
