I need a clever/cool/funny idea for an illustration of a retro video game. I'm entering a contest soon, but I'm having a creative block.

Give me some inspiration, racketeers! I'll post my illustration here.

Well, what are the rules? Is there anything particular that you must include or cannot include?

I must include the company's mascots.

Don't ask me which one is pixel pete and which one is retro rae. I don't know.

So...why not do them in the style of Double Dragon or a similar beat 'em up? Maybe like Battletoads, where one is punching a pig with an enormous fist, while the other jump kicks a robot?

Not a bad idea, Ack. My first thought was to place these two characters into a video game, but I couldn't decide what game. Super Mario Bros. would be my default iconic retro video game. I wasn't really in love with the idea, but a beat 'em up might be more fun than a platformer.

Something involving the Bubble Bobble dragons?

Turn the mascots into Tetris pieces?

Have the mascots stealing Arthur from GnG's armor and him chasing after them in his undies?

Pit the two mascots against each other in a Pokémon battle?

Make one Link, the other the old guy, and recreate the "It's dangerous to go alone!" bit?

A Final Fantasy style encounter between a party of the mascots and classic videogame villains?
