What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
It was on TCM as part of their TCM Underground programming block, and even though I've seen it before (this was my third time) and should have focused more on sleep, I just couldn't resist rewatching:

Well. The word is out. seth rogen is an asshole.
I praised that dude for his work for darned good causes for charity, but he was doing those things for self promotion, and not the charities.
THE DARK KNIGHT
Still incredible. I'll always think the idea of a billionaire dressing up as a bat with a cape is beyond silly, but somehow it works on the silver screen.

I rented this movie around 2007~ish from a place called video-mart. They still rented VHS cassettes back then. I had a lot of fun watching this campy Rutger Hauer flick. Was this a Roger Corman "million dollar" production, or did it just feel like one?Ack wrote:Delicatessen is an awesome movie.
Split Second is a bit hard to find. First, it is only available in Fullscreen. There apparently has never been a Widescreen home release. Second, it got a limited DVD run, so prices run up over $100. Apparently it got a release in other regions, namely Australia, but I've no idea on that. I ended up borrowing a bootleg copy from the guy at my video rental place. I walked in and asked for it, and he said, "We don't officially have that...but you can borrow my copy." Nice guy.
So in this film, set in the far future of 2008(came out in 1992), London is in the throes of global warming, which has led to massive and constant flooding as well as a killer rat infestation. And demons from Hell that eat human hearts for their DNA apparently. Now burned out cop-on-the-edge Harley Stone(Hauer) has been teamed up with nerdy Oxford-graduate detective Dick Durkin to take down the monster that murdered his partner five years ago...whose wife Stone happened to have been sleeping with.
Yeah, not exactly award winning material, but I was kept entertained. It's low budget, but it also has the likes of Pete Postlethwaite and Alun Armstrong. If you can track down a copy(without paying the DVD's expensive price tag), and you like cheap scifi(cyberpunk)/horror, give it a shot.

Funny enough, no. Corman didn't have a thing to do with it. This was a British production produced by the likes of Chris Hanley, directed by the likes of Tony Maylam(who directed the early 1980s slasher film The Burning).samsonlonghair wrote:I rented this movie around 2007~ish from a place called video-mart. For some reason, other than the fact that it and Carrie are being played in a double feature over and over today in celebration for Mother's Day, I decided to give this a chance.

If you've seen the original version of Carrie, on the other hand, many don't know this but Piper Laurie's performance was partly due to the fact that she actually though the film was a comedy. Thus Laurie's incredulously deranged performance!
Currently watching this on Cartoon Network for the fact that that it started right after Mommie Dearest ended and ends when tonight's episode of Bob's Burgers begins:

Yep, I just watched Psycho. The original Hitchcock film. I will say that this is was a bold move at the time for Hitchcock but the way the movie is set up, the film is pretty much a one trick pony. The death scene in the middle of movie is great and moves the movie towards a totally different direction with trying to figure out what really happened with her murder. However, that is really all the movie has going for it. While I do think it is a great film, I still say that it is not one of Hitchcock's best overall.

Been watching a lot of Documentaries on Netflix over the past few days.
Inequality For All

Freaking loved it. Robert Reich was amazing and the film was very well presented. At no point did I ever feel bored or uninterested and they did a very good job of explaining income inequality, it's effects on the economy as a whole, and ways in which it could be fixed.
Trailer:
Terms And Conditions May Apply

This documentary was very entertaining as well. Basically it goes over the pretty much nonexistence of privacy online. It focuses alot on Google and Facebook and data mining in general. It brings up a variety of good points both about the companies mining the data and how the government has handled/exploited the situation. Love that they actually ambush Mark Zuckerberg at the end
