Natural Selection is an FPS with RTS elements. One person on the team is the "captain", and they're basically there to utilize resources, build structures and direct traffic.

Re: New game genre?
Impressive trailer! The game looks very ambitious and huge in scope.

Re: New game genre?
I'm less impressed, it definitely looks like it will suffer from "jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none" syndrome. Why would I want to play an RPG-FPS-RTS game when there are plenty of other titles that do these things in a much better, much more focused way? A lot of those shots in the trailer look a lot like Skyrim or Dark Souls - so why wouldn't I just play those games, which are masterpieces, instead? How many FPS games have we had in the last six years? I don't wish you a lack of success, but I'm pretty skeptical.
Also, adding FPS-RPG-RTS genres together doesn't create a new genre.

Re: FPS with RTS elements - is it Possible?
Many years ago I played this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlezone ... eo_game%29
The game was brilliant and played wonderfully. I think it's a good concept to revisit.Activision remade it into a hybrid of a tank simulation game, a first-person shooter and a real-time strategy game. Battlezone is played like any other real time strategy, but the main difference is that in Battlezone the player is controlling everything on the battlefield from the first person view.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
