I think I may start FFIX again. Every time I play a different game, I come across a thought in my head: Man, why am I not playing FFIX right now?
Final Fantasy IX is the best one

I'm essentially done "game collecting" for the foreseeable future.

Having no job + having a one year old + attempting to buy a house = no $$$ for "fun" stuff.

I'll still poke around the local game/record/thrift stores from time to time, but the days of spontaneous eBay type purchases are over.

Can't say I'm really upset. My backlog is quite epic and I've run out of space.

Random Gaming Thoughts:
I just got an iCade a couple days ago. I haven't spent much time with it yet, but it feels nice so far.
I'm thinking of starting a RB club for those of us who aren't buying the newest consoles. I think I'll call it the 8th Generation Humbuggers.
It took a few days for this to sink in, but it's nice to see a Wolfenstein game being advertised at Wal*Mart.
Can I join the RB Cab Club since I have an iCade now? :P

Random Uncharted 2 Thoughts:
Good gawd, this game has some shitty writing. On more than a couple of occasions a character will find exactly what they need at that moment. "Ooh! A sniper rifle." "Ooh! Some grenades!" There's also a couple of times where Nathan Drake finds something plainly obvious before the enemies do despite the enemies having ample time to find the plainly obvious something. In one chapter you run into a tunnel that leads to.. something, I don't give enough of a shit to remember, right after laying waste to an enemy encampment. C'mon! It was right in the open!
Fuck cover systems, give me a crouch button.
There's a bonus item, called the next-gen filter, in the game that places a brown filter over everything. It's not funny when your game already looks brown.

Of all the criticisms people levy against modern games, being brown is the weakest most superficial one besides the old lightbloom jokes.

Among all the games you could accuse of being brown, why in the world would you choose Uncharted 2? Go for an easier target like Gears.

Maybe the last two screens were a better example (Can't view them), but that first one would be pretty much entirely brown were it not for those random flags hanging about.

Why is brown the popular choice? Colourful games can be serious, is Far Cry 3 considered brown?

I wish Nintendo and Sony had actually went through with the SNES CD Drive.
I don't know about this. The PlayStation ended up being far greater than anything the SNES CD could have been. If we could somehow have both. I know I would have loved to see secret of mana on proper CD. Although, I suspect it may not have been localized if it were that large.

Honestly this just struck me especially since you don't see those two coming out often now a days except wario maybe in wario ware...
I think that was the plan for the sequel to Super Mario 64, but might have just been rumors floating around at the time.

There are several reasons, mainly that "brown" is seen as "realistic" in the same way so many movies today try to look "grim" by making everything, including the actor's faces grey (The latest Harry Potter films are a great example of this).

I'm also told it's far easier to use a brow color palette with the most popular engines than other colours and the TF2 developers had to design dozens of new shaders just to be able to make TF2 look like it does today.

I don't even remember hearing much details about sm64-2, it's just kind of weird that they have these characters that can function as evil guys or at least supporting ones and they don't make use of them(even if they might be from another team within the company).
