Experience with replacement screens? (GBA)

Post by Snatch1414 »

So I bought a GBA at a flea market and the screen is scratched a little too much for my liking. Anyone ever tried these replacements on Amazon or anywhere? I can't seem to find one that says "Gameboy Advance", for understandable reasons, but that's annoying and I'd like to find one like that.

Lastly, does replacing just the screen help with brightness of the picture? Maybe I'm just not remembering from back when the GBA was new but this one seems dim and I'd like to fix that too.

Your information is confusing. GBA or GBASP? Just the outside lens doesn't affect the amount of light coming though if you mean that. If you mean the screen, of course the GBA is not lighted. The SP has the 100 model and the 101 later brighter models.

Ya I meant the original GBA so yeah I guess the tech is just that old. Still, I have a game gear with a far better picture

You can purchase kits to properly light an original GBA, if you're willing to do the mod work.

These guys have the replacement screen lens as well.

They have instructions on the site for how to do the work.

I'd like to do this myself, but I'm afraid to fuck it up.

Assuming you have a Game Gear that the capacitors aren't crapping the bed, that has a lit screen where as the original GBA does not. You can get a replacement outer screen bit from the Racket store.
