Wow -- I didn't see that coming...baphomet_irl wrote:http://gonext.blogspot.com/2006/11/micr ... apcom.html
But again, it's just a rumor.
It would suck that Capcom games wouldn't be available on the Virtual Console after that...
But at least it would really hurt Sony as well....
But I'd prefer Capcom to stay independent -- same goes for Sega, Konami, and Namco.

No way in hell this could ever happen. Just because M$ wants something, doesn't mean they'll get it. Capcom just wouldn't be in a good position by doing this, considering they get a lot of money from nintendo and PlayStation console games, not to mention they have always had aconsiderable amount of PC ports, so allowing themselves to only develop for one system would never be as fruitful as developing for 6 or 7. Plus, Capcoms got a lot going for them, so this really could never happen.

I saw this in EGM, it was just a rumor.
Capcom's two biggest titles at the moment, Lost Planet and Resident Evil 5, are already heading to the 360, with Lost Planet being exclusive. And Resident Evil exclusivity didn't exactly give the Gamecube a tremendous boost...Mega Man wouldn't fall in lieu too well with the Xbox, so Capcom would lose profitability there, and Viewtiful Joe wasn't really widly popular (note the lack of numero tres).
Street Fighter 4, if ever the world was so lucky, wouldn't be nearly as huge or grand on a single platform as it once was...so this purchase idea would be good for not much more than maybe Devil May Cry, as I don't see it convincing Japanese gamers anymore than current efforts. And the price of Capcom would fart all over the price they payed for Rare.
I think this would be good for press above anything else, and it'd take another generation or two before anything "worth it" was seen from it. Microsoft would have to be banking on the PS3 being a dangerously massive success for this to pay off...
Oh, and the same article also suggested Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming to the 360.
