Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Why the ever living hell is metal pretty much the only type of music that has fantasy themes or lyrics? I mean, shit, you'd think there would be more folk rock bands or something that would cover it, but noooo.

No way! Manowar said they don't attract wimps, 'cause they're too loud! Just true metal people, that's Manowar's crowd!AppleQueso wrote:metal is nerd music

My favorite band, Cloud Cult, is heavily influenced by fairy tales, which is pretty cool to hear from a folky rock band. I mean, they don't talk about many knights or orcs or anything, but still pretty cool :pForlorn Drifter wrote:Why the ever living hell is metal pretty much the only type of music that has fantasy themes or lyrics? My buddy Charlie (Charlie Stone, I think he's still at charliestonestandsup.com) set the world record for most bleeps on the weather channel:
the guy has never not cracked me up.
And for the sake of conversation on the current trend of topic, I'll take classical music over any band.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I've never been able to get into classical as a genre, really; I took a classical music course in college, and that was enough for me. That said, one of the artists I listen to the most is Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy composer). That guy has made some fantastic stuff.Luke wrote: And for the sake of conversation on the current trend of topic, I'll take classical music over any band.

Yeah, but most "nerds" I know won't go in a hundred foot wide circle of metal.AppleQueso wrote:metal is nerd music
I've looked into classical some, but I lose interest in it pretty quickly most of the time. There's some that really catches me, but most of it loses me quite quickly. Not sure why.

The world don't beat to the sound of just one drum. What might me good for you, may not be right for some.catnip wrote: I've never been able to get into classical as a genre, really
I grew up listening to and studying classical music, and "classical" doesn't mean super super old stuff (some time it does, but then again you have Joplin and that still is labeled as "classical" warranted or not).
^For those who don't care, still give this a watch.
