I was between the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Tab 4. I went with the Galaxy due to the expandable micro-SD on the Galaxy. I know it's not stock Android, but I wasn't really thinking about Google Play Store. Will I not be able to access it? Will that be a huge loss?isiolia wrote:Nexus 7 doesn't have micro SD on either revision. There are LTE models, but they don't have free service on 'em, and it takes jumping to the 32GB version I think, at least on the current model.

Galaxy stuff supports the Play Store. But some software explicitly doesn't support the Tab tablets.
Samsung just also has their own store in addition to the Play Store. I don't recommend using theirs, it's not very good.
I would recommend utilizing Kies on your computer, though.

just discovered the WatchOn app. Mind blown. I'm controlling this CRT TV in my game room that just has a little digital cable box hooked up to it. Amazed.
I wonder if there's other apps that would utilize the IR port to control my stereo, etc?

Kies ... if you bought a Samsung device, is the desktop side software so you can backup and manage the device. It's very useful, and you can update the OS and junk using it too.
I setup my mom's Tab 3 (wouldn't recommend it, it's a severely underpowered device) to utilize it's IR blaster for TV junk ... and it controlled everything from what I remember, including the cable box ... Dijit, is the name. Advantage: free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .dijit.urc
What's really cool is most streaming applications, if you have a companion device that also utilizes the same services, the application on the tablet will allow you to control them remotely. So, for example, YouTube on andoird, you can control YouTube on consoles. Same with NetFlix. I don't know about Amazon Instant Video, since that only runs on Kindle and iPad.

My mantra is, if you can't root, hoot it.
Running a custom rom on my KF (1st gen) and it's been swell so far. Feeling the pinch with the meager amount of RAM though.

I love my Hisense Sero 7 Pro. It's basically a 1st-gen Nexus 7 with some hardware extras, like an SD slot for one. Yay for Chinese clone tablets!
