I'm nearing the end of Mario and Luigi SuperStar Saga myself. Also put a couple hours into Nier lately.

The two main differences is that since you all start in the middle it's pretty easy to do things like make Yuna a physical attacker (although the starting stats still make that difficult, because the damage formula is based on the square of the stat) and there are less nodes which really only matters if you're going for a hyper completionist max stats approach (which is completely unnecessary since broken HP limit max HP is completely overkill if you know what you're doing).
I'm digging this, could maybe make Yuna into a Black Mage herself (pretty close to Fira, etc).

I still have no idea what to do with Kimahri though... so he's just WTF this and that.

Lulu's arsenal is definitely impressive in this version.

Final Fantasy II (GBA)

Just made it out of the ice caves.

They toned back the difficulty level of this port to practically nothing. Enemies on the overworld are dishing out 0 points of damage.

Tales of Phantasia

A few hours into the game, and I've been sent back in time after running into Dhaos.

Nice to see people playing the oldies.

Final Fantasy II (GBA)

Damn the difficulty really spikes once you enter the Dreadnought (the bad guy's airship). Glad I stocked up on ethers.

This game is good. Anyone who is on the fence about playing FFII because of all the bad publicity should try this GBA port. Or the PSP version, which I'm assuming is similar.

I remember that...The game - like the NES original if I recall correctly - is either too easy or very difficult. The challenge is consistently uneven.

Enemies were literally doing 0 hit points of damage with each attack. Soon as I enter the dreadnought (different) enemies are dishing out 100 hit points of damage, poisoning/blinding/stunning my party members, and stealing their HP. Brutal, man.

Final Fantasy (PSP)

Got the Earth Crystal shining. Kinda bummed that the Red Mage can't get more Black Magic in his current class, but I reckon I'll make do going forward.

I've never played with a Red Mage. Sounds tough.
