It was widely speculated that this was inevitable at some point, but still cool to see it get announced. I don't remember much about Ruby on the GBA as it was around the time when I was becoming "too old" for Pokémon so I'm looking forward to this!

Excited about these, but I always am about Pokémon games.
I hope theres lots of new stuff to make them worthwhile.

This is actually quite nice. I wonder if they are gonna make a remake of the remake of the original game?

The last third of Ruby and Sapphire sucked SO HARD. Who in Nintendo thought that having a massive surf section was a good design decision?

The extreme amount of surfing in Ruby and Sapphire was not nearly as tedious and slow as pretty much the whole of Diamond and Pearl (particularly the surfing segments of that game - so slow!).MrPopo wrote:The last third of Ruby and Sapphire sucked SO HARD. I played them a lot back in the day but it's true they are some of the weaker entries.
But I'm a Tajiri fanboy so what do I know?

I have a complete copy of Sapphire in my collection somewhere, but have never played it. It was a throw-in a few years ago as part of a sale with an SNES. I'll always have a soft spot for Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver and Gold though, some very good times with all of those games.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time on Silver. The copy of Ruby I had was actually my brother's but I played a little bit of it. Then I didn't touch another Pokemon game until X/Y came out last year and got to love it all again.Retrogamer0001 wrote:I have a complete copy of Sapphire in my collection somewhere, but have never played it. Re: Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remakes announced
BEYOND EXCITED!
These were by far my most favorite games in the series. These came out originally during my high school days in 2003. During a turbulent time. I haven't touched Pokemon for three or so years before (skipped Crystal). Thought it was "stupid and babyish" as a teenager but I played it anyway. I spent dozens and dozens of hours with Ruby doing EV and IV training, exploring stuff, trying to complete the Dex, and other activities. Secret bases were awesome too along with collecting decorations for them.
I spent time with Emerald in 2005 on release, again during my high school days but things stabilized considerably so it wasn't much of a go to thing like Ruby was. I did beat the game and transferred my trained Pokemon for the Battle Frontier. Silvered everything and a couple of golds. The battle Pyramid was the toughest for me.
