I started playing Metroid Prime, I'm at the Phazon Mines.

I have some gripes with the controls, mainly having to deal with the lock-on and how it doesn't snap to enemies at the end of the view. It's mostly an issue with vertical enemies. You can't move while you're moving the visor into position to target them. It's kind of a pain in the ass. They really could have combined the pause and map buttons to start and made Z a modifier button for the D-Pad's selection of vizors and weapons, leaving the C stick open for free looking while attempting to target.

All that withstanding, the game is very good. I wish I played it when it came out.

Still been thinking about options to replace Cybernator. Anyone got any opinions on what they think I should go for?

I think it's down to 6 options:

Blaster Master - Awesome, but really difficult. Worried about finishing on time. I've also played a fair amount of this ebfore (up the the zone 5 boss at least, which is past the halfway point)

Final Fantasy VIII - Absolute classic, plus Blu is playing it too. The length is a concern though, what with 9 other summer games, plus together retro, plus the FFV Four Job Fiesta, aswell as holidays coming up  I've also just finished FFVII and will be playing V over the summer, so it could be too much

Final Fantasy X - Pretty much the same as above, but no-one else is playing this one. I'd argue it's probably more iconic than VIII though, just about. A lot of people are playing FF games this year, but they all seem to be the ones I've already beat!

Rayman 2 - It's probably one of the easier and shorter options on this list, but I just don't really feel like playing this one much.

Sega Rally Championship - Drivin' cars. Not that exciting.

Tactics Ogre - Another long one, but I'm not playing any strategy games, and it won't cause Final Fantasy Fatigue like the other RPGs on the list.

Is anyone playing any of these? Anyone think one in particular sticks out?

Approach the game like you will be reading the Neverending Story.

Pack a lunch, get lost in your imagination, and spend your entire day playing the game with an aggressive attitude (aka toss the apple when work is to be done). It's a journey, no doubt, but an incredible and awarding experience.

Turns out Nights is really easy so that's two down already.

Nights is awful at communicating how the player should go about beating it but once you know it's a piece of cake. I beat the Xbox360 port which is itself a port of the PS2 version.

I don't want to take anything away from Nights, it's still a tremendous game with an unmatched sense of joy. It's just odd that the method of getting high scores seems to run counter to the information presented to the player.

I'm in Section 2 of Wily Castle now and am starting to realize how much I suck at this game. I've died about six times on those stupid block robots. I have a few questions, if anyone would be so kind to answer:

1. What's the max number of lives I can hold?
2. If I lose all my lives, do I have to restart the Castle back at Section 1, or can I continue in the section I died in?

If you're not going to play Cybernator, then you shoudl play Rayman 2. It is one of the best 3D platformers; it is available for multiple consoles and handhelds; and you can get through it much quicker than some of the other, equally excellent games on your list.

I was going to second Rayman 2, as well. A really great game. Definitely one of the better 3D platformers I've ever played.

Ugh, Daikatana is rough in singleplayer. Co-op is one thing, but the reviewers weren't kidding when they said the partner AI was crap. Superfly likes to run up to enemies shooting him and then stand there, and then he complains when I try to shoot them but can't because he's in the way. It also doesn't help that the game is really bland during the opening levels. I've made it to the Crematorium, but I still don't have Mikiko yet.

Hopefully I'll get through this section soon and make it to the time travel parts.

It sounds like you are playing "John Romero's Daikatana" for the Nintendo 64 or PC. You should be playing "Daikatana" the very good Gameboy Color JRPG instead.
