The 3DS' library is no joke, for sure. But man, the Vita has really come alive with the JRPGs and quirky games. I wouldn't write it off so easily. Just a few examples of goodies...

RPGs:
Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland
Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland
Demon Gaze
Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention
Dragon's Crown
Muramasa Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Ragnarok Odyssey ACE
Rainbow Moon
Soul Sacrifice
Toukiden: The Age of Demons
Ys: Memories of Celceta
Quirky stuff:
Army Corps of Hell
Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
Deception IV: Blood Ties
Gravity Rush
Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f
LittleBigPlanet PS Vita
New Little King's Story
Sorcery Saga: The Curse of the Great Curry God
Sumioni: Demon Arts
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz
Tearaway
Touch My Katamari
Well, I'm very happy with my Vita personally.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I'm not saying it's a bad system by any means, just not something I feel the need to pick up. Many of those games are also PS3 titles and a few are multi-platform with the 3DS itself. I'm sure the system will pick up over the next few years and probably be full of interesting games, but for now, the 3DS is my go-to handheld.

When I heard the Vita would have an Ys game I knew I had to have it at launch.

Had no clue this existed, can't wait to get my paws on it.

Thanks Exed for mentioning this.
It is Contra III with a few tweaks. Just FYI so you know what you're getting.

Thanks Hobesters.

I googled it to know exactly what to expect, and I expect the unexpected.

I had legitimately forgotten I made the bid until the email came in today.
Hmm, perhaps I should start doing that.
Yeah... guess I own VB Waterworld now. Opening bid of $50, which is a good $10-15 less than alllll the other copies I've seen listed for the past couple months.
Zoinks, unless the games drop WAAAY lower in price, I don't think I'll ever get into Virtual Boy collection.

Oh, and here's a thought I decided to copy from my FaceBook:
I put in the Uncharted 2 disc at 8:58 p.m. It is now 9:39 p.m. and I have just now started the game. Fuck modern consoles.

Correct. The overhead levels have been replaced by 2 levels from Contra Hard Corps (Genesis), there are no super bombs, and you can only carry one gun.

I'm a big fan of Contra III and completed it on all the difficulty levels, so I'm gonna give it a go anyway for something a little different. I also like collecting the SNES ports that make it to the GBA just to see how well they are ported and if the GBA can handle them just as well. For Super Ghouls & Ghosts and The Lost Vikings, a resounding yes. Features such as extra modes (G'n'G) & save slots instead of passwords (TLV) are also helpful.

Eh. Waterworld and Jack Bros are really the only expensive games unless some of the ones I picked up years ago have spiked (which they might've for all I know, I don't make a habit of selling games unless I get dupes, and I have yet to get a dupe for the VB, so I don't really know what my collection pieces go for) and with a mere 14 official US releases, it's almost trivial to get a full set. Which for some absurd reason I thought would be fun.

(I kid, it's actually a really fun system in my opinion)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

The Virtual Boy also has the advantage of having a tiny library, so you save up for the two expensive games and you're halfway to having a full collection anyway.

Exactly, Popo.

Honestly, it's a console where I might actually even try to collect all the high-qual repros out there... there's only like a half dozen. Maybe, maybe not, we'll see. Having the Flashboy might be enough ability to play prototypes/ports for me.
