Uninvited/Shadowgate/Maniac Mansion

Anyone else here a fan of these old NES point and click games? I first played Uninvited on my cousin's NES, back when it was new (for NES, it's been around since 1986 on Mac). It's a forerunner to Resident Evil in many ways. The mansion, duh, the way you search around for clues. Silent Hill took it's opening story straight from Uninvited (Have a wreck and wake up with your sister/child missing. Hello?)

I also have Deja Vu on GBC. Great game

I loved Shadowgate and Maniac Mansion both. I've never been able to beat either though.

Maniac Mansion on the NES is my favorite version (despite all of its flaws). I am glad that I can finally play it in SCUMMVM with a mouse.

Shadowgate and DejaVu are just stunning games to me, and are great adventures.

Shadowgate was the first NES game I ever asked for. I got it for Christmas in 1990. I loved the game but it was hard as nails and I got nowhere in it. I ended up ordering a walkthrough from the game's instruction manual that took six months to get back to me. Then I beat the game in a day, of course. Aside from the obtuse puzzles, Shadowgate had tremendous atmosphere and a delightfully dark sense of humor. Quite creepy for a ten year old.

I also had Maniac Mansion on NES, circa 1991. I beat it without a walkthrough, and I thought the game was hilarious. Although I'm sure some of the more subtle adult humor flew over my head at that time.

All 3 of the ICOM Simulation games that made it onto the NES were many weekends of rentals for me. I never really encountered a game that made you think so much back then. Thank goodness Nintendo Power had lots of help in their Counselor's Corner sections for those games.

I played Maniac Mansion Deluxe, a Windows remake, in Together Retro in 2012.

The NES version of Maniac Mansion is the best, despite the classic Nintendo censorship, because of the music. Dem tracks! Love love love this game. Have beaten it way too many times to count, and can almost recite from memory how to do it (for at least one of the endings).
