Haven't messed with it yet, dood. Probably will later this afternoon. Reckon I'll try a whole bunch of characters out and see who I like. If you're not busy, I'll hit you up for some SCV 101.cha cha wrote:TSTR how you liking SC5?

Spent some time with SCV last night. I could get into this for sure. Played around with a good chunk of the characters. Leaning toward Pyrrha, Natsu, and Mitsurugi.
Re: Racketeer Weekly Fight Nights: Resurrection!
Well as you may or may not have felt through messing around in-game, execution level required to do "cool things" and "massive damage" in this game is ridiculously low.
So learning the character really comes down to a matter of preference in style/flavor.
When I start referring to moves and strategies, remember that SC is one of the games that uses the numberpad on your keyboard to describe commands. 6= foward, 4= back, 2= down, 8= up and so on. So like a fireball motion would be 236+button etc.
thoughts:
Pyrrah- She falls under the category of 'punishment' oriented characters. Her forward movement and range is great, she punishes whiffed moves incredibly well with 236+B and 66+B. She has safe pokes up close and a great throw game....if you can get past her saying "sorry" after every goddamn move, then yea, she's a peach to play. Her weaknesses are being kind of linear and therefore easier to sidestep at mid and long ranges and relatively weak lows.
Mitsu- Classic BnB character of the series, he's a pressure/mix-up style. Basically your Ryu-type character, really good at everything, not the best in anything (unless you count being a badass with an eye patch and hating spandex-clad ninjas). Mitsu's stance game was actually "dumbed down" in this game, he lost once of his stances (Relic) and only retained Mist (6B+K).
Mitsu's meat and potatoes really fall on the vertical attach side of things (though do not discount 1A, his staple long range low). Mitsu's 66A+B is one of the best moves in the game- It's a devastating mid that does huge damage, knocks down, is cancellable for sweet mind games and oki options. His 2+K,B is not the powerhouse unseeable low it once was, as it no longer knocks down on normal hit and requires you to spend meter (EX) to make it a hard KD. BUT, it is still an amazing mix up tool up close out fo a cancelled 66A+B or after a series of mid pokes that Mitsu has NO shortage of.
His 4B is one of the safest and best evasion counter pokes in the game, with added ability to wall splat or ring out opponents, so good. His BB can be cancelled into his Mist stance and tracks really well for a generic vertical attack.
Mistu's weaknesses are similar to Pyrrah's, he's kinda linear with his best stuff, and his Horizontal tools are lacking. He has a ton of good lows and some of the best mids in the game to make up for the weaknesses.
Natsu- Taki's successor for a long time, was one of the most OP characters in the game. On top of that, her rushdown is a lot easier to execute than Taki's stuff ever was. She's an obvious rushdown style character that utilizes an amazing array of mix up tools up close and deceptive range on punishes. The deceptive range comes from her best move 66B:A (the 2nd hit only comes out if you hit A on the impact frames of the initial B attack, or if you spend meter it automatically comes out and does more dmg).
The rest of her game centers around her strong cancels into her Possession stance (214) and the subsequent mix up game it grants. Spend a lot of time learning how to whiff punish with and land Ninja Cannon (4A+B) as it is a powerful low launcher that leads into ridiculous damage from both normal follow ups and her super move.
Natsu, like your other two choices is far stronger in her linear mid game than she is in her anti-step game, she also has trouble scoring knockdowns without spending meter and has a lot of mediocre-bad lows. Her speed, throw game and damage output... more than make up for her defects though.
Once you make a decision on who you wanna play (those above or someone else entirely), let me know and we can go over specifics for you to start integrating into your gameplans.

Re: Racketeer Weekly Fight Nights: Resurrection!
^Great info, dood! Gonna spend some more time clicking around/reading over at 8WR and messing around ingame before I decide to pick a main. (I spent a lot of my time with Pyrrha, and yeah, that whole "PLS FORGIV ME" thing gets a little old.)
As an aside, what do you use for button mappings stick-wise? Do you use the default
A B
G K
or go with something else? I was thinking of switching up to:
A B K
G
Should I worry with multi-button mappings? I don't really fux with them in other games (PPP/KKK is for suckas).

Well, I can't use sticks, so mapping 3xP and 3xK is invaluable; especially when you are trying to do Zangief's Ultra.

Yes, I should add that my comments are stick-specific. By all means, map away pad warriors!foxhound1022 wrote:Well, I can't use sticks, so mapping 3xP and 3xK is invaluable; especially when you are trying to do Zangief's Ultra.
Re: Racketeer Weekly Fight Nights: Resurrection!
The buttons I would recommend on a typical 6 button stick would be:
A B K
G X X
Some people are more comfortable programming A+B+K (the buttons needed for EX, GI and Super moves) into one of the 'X' buttons, for easier button rolls after certain moves, but that's on you.

Re: Racketeer Weekly Fight Nights: Resurrection!
So... amidst all the chirping of crickets, I missed if anyone was actually gonna show for Tekken tonight as our feature Fight Night game
I'm telling ya guys, it's a great game and there will be plenty of new people to try stuff against if you are worried about only being beaten down by hardened veterans. If there is anything I can do or explain to make Tekken more interesting in order for you to take time out of your night and play with us, let me know!

(As you can see, I don't have the game, unfortunately xD)
Final Fantasy IX is the best one
Re: Racketeer Weekly Fight Nights: Resurrection!
Yep Eddy Gordo, his female replacement Christie Montiero and his alternate Persona Tiger Jackson are all now individual characters with all very similar move sets. I actually main the female capoeira character mentioned above- Christie
So if you wanna ever get the game and learn Eddy, I'm the man to come to for legit tech
