My FFVA update:

Spent more time completing LoZ: Link's Awakening DX and the Advance Wars 2 normal campaign this week than playing FFV. But I did manage to finish getting all the Legendary Weapons and unlock Mime and 3 of the 4 new jobs. Gladiator seems solid. Oracle's AP boost ability will be nice. Cannoneer seems like a job similar to Chemist. Haven't bothered to use it. Only sides quests left in the world seem to be acquiring the Magic Lamp and to ride a Chocobo around the world.

Current party: Bartz-Gladiator-LV2, Lenna-Samurai-LV4, Krile-Samurai-LV4, Faris-Oracle-LV2. Everyone's around level 43 I think. I just passed 34 hours.
Planning on playing FF1 DoS after this.

EDIT May 4: Grinded some ABPs today. Disappointed Orable's ABP Up ablitity doesn't apply to the whole party. Shucks.
Gladiator's Long Reach is a cool defensive ability for melee guys. I'm thinking a Monk would benefit the most with it.
Going to master Red mage with Faris and Krile then do the end game.

Mario & Luigi - Bowser's Inside Story update:

Just found the 3rd Star Cure, and about to start working on Peach's castle for the grand finale.

I'd finish that game myself but I'm holding out since I really want to play PIT first but haven't gotten around to even trying to find that one...

Picked up the FFXHD release and am a good chunk into it (just got past the mandatory Blitzball event when you meet up with Auron again).

I have to say with Lost Odyssey fresh in mind from last year, it's pretty interesting replaying this and seeing the huge amount of similarities. I know that Sakaguchi formed Mistwalker, and that they're mostly ex-Square Soft devs, and then there's Uematsu, but yeah... right down to the art direction, the level design, the camera positions/movement, the humor, literally everything is spot on. And of course both are loaded with Sakaguchi's emphasis on weird death/afterlife plot points. As always LO is arguably the unofficial FFXI.

It's been about 10 years since I've played FFX. It was a mixed bag for me back then, not my favorite cast or anything. But I am definitely enjoying myself this time around. I can say though, wowzers is it easy though haha.

Also this is probably hands down the best HD remaster out there. With the Lost Odyssey comparison, it practically looks just as good. Who even knew Yuna has different colored eyes?

The rearranged music, which I know was almost a turn off for me and maybe others... I can honestly say it hasn't been very distracting at all and everything sounds better in game than randomly hearing tracks on youtube or whatever. I'd say give it a chance if that was holding you back, everything still sounds and feels familiar enough.

I started with the "Expert" Sphere Grid, no idea what the difference is though.

The two main differences is that since you all start in the middle it's pretty easy to do things like make Yuna a physical attacker (although the starting stats still make that difficult, because the damage formula is based on the square of the stat) and there are less nodes which really only matters if you're going for a hyper completionist max stats approach (which is completely unnecessary since broken HP limit max HP is completely overkill if you know what you're doing).

Not sure if I am ruining the joke, but I was able to tell that Yuna had different colored eyes.

Monks have pretty good support abilities for mastering the job (will let freelancers and mimes have innate counter and barehanded) but it's actually a pretty terrible job for the endgame - they just don't match up damage wise once you start getting the legendary weapons.

Even though all the games in the series are pretty standalone, Partners in Time in particular feels very isolated in the (very limited) continuity of the series. You won't miss anything by jumping straigh into Bowsers Inside Story and playing Partners in Time later.

I know but I really want partners in time first...that's the one game(besides dream team) I'm missing out of that series.

Finished this about a month ago. Loved it! I liked it a lot more than my first time through (which was also about 10 years ago).

I wasn't able to tell that Yuna had different colored eyes, but that could be because I didn't have a functioning-color TV until I was about 15/16. The one TV we had had a really weird green color to everything... Yeah, I dunno
