I wish I could figure out why my Dreamcast Scart cable doesn't play nice with my RGB arcade monitor, it is the only console that doesn't. The picture is all scrambled and crazy, wont work on my XRGB mini either. Sure I could use VGA on my HDTV but I want my CRT.

All right, so it is on.

I already beat my score in the original score thread. I know I'll get past Stage 2 now.

I was playing this a few months ago and I think I actually managed to figure out the scoring for the first time. Of course, playing it again now, I had to learn it all from scratch since it's pretty hard to remember...

I think my previous best is around 8 million or so, but this'll do to start off with.

I spaced this off and need another dimm board as my only one is at my moms. I can't get the combo's to work with a controller and the Wii damn it.

Looks like I need to get to work too. Good scores guys.

That's more like it. I had a few runs with the other ships too. I reckon if you just want to play for survival then you should pick the red ship; you should still be able to get a decent score just from staying in order field and collecting Meta-cubes (or whatever they're called). But if you want to take more risks and score highly, then the yellow ship seems to have more potential. Its shot seems fairly weak in order field, but it seems easier to rack up the combo meter in chaos field with this ship using your wing-attack and homing-attack. A big chunk of this score came from beating the stage 2 boss with a high combo/multiplier in chaos field.

See, that's where I'm at and that's why I like Flawed Red so much. I grew up on shmups that were all about survival and not so much about score. But, I have been trying to fight boss 1-3 in Chaos Field, and I needed to remember that you can lock onto bullets there. My end of phase score was far better than it was staying in Order Field grabbing cubes.

So then, new score --

ExedExes - 6,126,140 - Flawed Red - Phase 2 (boss) - Gamecube

I figure I'll stay with Red until I can finally spend more than a minute on boss 2-3, then I'll try Fake Yellow again. Still, 5 days in and it's real exciting to see how much better I can do just in the first 2 phases by locking onto bullets. Heck, I've never seen a plus 300 combo before, but I did it here.

Week 1 update (a bit late, sorry)

DocHauser - 13,725,490 - Fake Yellow - Phase 3 - DC

I know there's more work to be done. I can do better.

Max combo here was 409, but on previous games I had near 600. I see how important it is now to scoring.

Still stuck on Phase 2, but my combos are getting a heck of a lot better. I'm also trying to enter CF on the 2nd boss of Phase 2. Good opportunities there, but best to know to start locking on before shots are fired so that green bullets can be cleared to make path for moving around the unlockable purple bullets a bit easier.

And with that, our second to last score update this month. 1 more week to go!
