I am curious to know which 360 phat HDDs had the silver trims? I know the black 120GB ones had it. But I've seen some regular gray HDDs (that game with the white consoles) have them and other not have them.
I have a 60GB without the trim.
It looks like to me that older 20GB were the ones that had it and the newer 60GB did not. Is that right?

The models that had the trim were the ones that came boxed with a hard drive. The Core and Arcade models did not, so the disc trays are left white. What you have is one of those two, with a hard drive that was later bought separately.

Yea, I know about the silver trays, but i'm talking about the silver border/trim on the actual HDD.

I bought my 360 brand new in the the box with the 60GB HDD (no silver on the HDD). The tray is silver though. I just don't understand why some HDDs have the silver and others do not.

My guess would be that the silver trim denoted the top end model. The 20GB models were the high end model at launch, compared to the Arcade with no HDD. When the 60GBs rolled out, there was the 120GB Elite model above them in the product line.sp957 wrote:The tray is silver though. Went to the game store, and the 20GB HDDs all had silver trims.
60GB did not, but that is likely because 120GB HDDs were rolled out at the same time.
