Awesome job, Donnie! I put in one run after work, just under 500K, so no improvement. Gonna play some more here this evening.

My 2nd best was over 800k w/Balrog, but then Sakura pummeled me at Stage 7.

If you can perfect the 1st round of the 1st fight when the AI is kinda soft, you can easily get 200k straight out of the gate.

Had a nice run w/Juli that ended in a hurry - destroyed by Adon.

576,400 - mjmjr25 - Juli - Round 6 (Adon)

The boys were fighting over who got to play next so ultimately they just played each other.

I tried later on but just couldn't get another good run going - these chicks are too dang loud :/

Put some more time into this today, and I was just trouncing fools w/ Balrog. That was until Fei-Long smacked me around. Stage 8 is seeming to be my wall right now; I know I can 1cc this thing.

1,572,500 - foxhound1022 - Balrog - Stage 8 (Fei-Long)

Really having a good time playing this way. My wall has been stage 6 and got owned by Ryu in the first round of stage 6 this time as well, but then won the next 2, then started cruising all the way to stage 10 where Cody was ridiculous - couldn't get near him, his anti-airs were brutal and if I played defense he just chucked rocks at me.

Solid improvement:

852,900 - mjmjr25 - Rolento - Stage 10 (Cody)

Nice!

It seems though, once you get to a certain point, the AI is almost prescient.

I kinda want to get in on this, but I'm worried about my controller options. I have a Topmax DC joystick, but it's pretty loose and clicky and feels like it's not spot-on. The regular Dreamcast pad is not all that great for fighters. I have an ASCII fighting pad, and it's pretty good, though wear is loosening the pad some. I do have a Saturn/PS adapter for the DC. Do adapters typically introduce a lot of lag? I have a PS1 joystick that's still not arcade-grade, but is better than the Topmax. And I do have my pride and joy (stick), my Sega Saturn Arcade Stick that I brought back from Japan. Can I just drop arcade replacement parts straight into that, cause the joystick really needs to be tightened up?

Blah, brain dump. Sorry.

The buttons are soldered into an all-in-one pcb assuming you're talking about the HSS-0136 virtual stick. The stick is soldered to another smaller pcb, it isn't 4-5 wire molex connector to an out of the way PCB - it's not an easy / easy drop in. Those sticks are pretty hearty, you may just need a restrictor gate?
