Love my component cables! There is no other way to play GBA.
...except for maybe on WiiU.
Gamecube component cables$$$$$$$$$!

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Maybe put the above statement in the OP for clarity?Hobie-wan wrote:Again for the people that don't know this, there's a chip inside the GC cable that coverts the signal. It has not been replicated by anyone, that's why there are no 3rd party GC component cables.
Here is my tease, a very lucky find at Gamestop of an uncommon cable SKU 900572 for $4.99; price label dated Nov 30, 2011. That was a couple of years ago though, even back then the GC component cable was very expensive. Note the Nintendo logo with the plastic raised "smile" underneath on the connector, this is the ONLY cable for the Gamecube that supports 480p component.
Anyone get an idea of trying that SKU in their area? Just ask the employee to look up the number without stating what type of cable. A very long shot, just maybe a package forgotten in the storeroom. Just make sure its not a 3rd party SVideo cable.
Imagine if one is discovered with the Gamestop 85% off Gamecube stuff, now that will be a find!

Re: Gamecube component cables$$$$$$$$$!
You have the first part right, it ouputs a digital component video signal that's converted to analogue in the cable.ninjainspandex wrote:So let me get this straight the Gamecube outputs a digital signal that is converted to analogue inside the Component cables? So theoretically could someone make an HDMI cable for the Gamecube?
Nobody has ever gotten the full info about the converter chip, so I don't see anyone ever being able to make an HDMI cable, since to my understanding the digital video is proprietary and wouldn't follow HDMI standards without someone fully deciphering it.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
