Been checking out the site for a few months now. Thought I'd finally post something.

Anyhow, I'm somewhat new to the retro scene. I've owned a SNES since I received it for christmas that year it debuted, but have never really began trying to amass any significant videogame collection until recently. I guess my reintroduction toward the old systems began this fall when I grew tired of the lackluster offering of games for my PS3 upon conquering Metal Gear Solid 4. I came to realize I could get many old classics I missed out on in my younger years for the price of one PS3 title, and soon began my scouring of ebay, local pawnshops, and the ubiquitous Game Xchange.

I wouldn't consider myself so much of a collector of rare, expensive games, but more of a avid gamer who just wants to have fun. I've mentioned my SNES of which I'm lacking a number of classic RPGs (Final Fantasy, Mario RPG, Earthbound, etc) but more than make up for in old favorites such as Yoshi's Island and the Donkey Kong Country series. It's a shame the Wii's virtual console didn't have a better selection of old classics that are now only to be found close to the $100 range. I could justify purchasing a Wii for an opportunity to play Earthbound & Mario RPG cheaply, but alas, I have not.

In addition to my SNES, I have a N64 which doesn't seem to have aged very well in this generation; even my old favorite Goldeneye. I recently came upon a Gamecube, but have not really begun a proper collection yet.

My current endeavor is amassing the largest collection of decent ps2 titles I can. I think that system offers not only one of the best libraries of any system but also hasn't aged poorly at all as of yet, and I doubt it will for a very long time.

Well, that's me. Just an average gamer looking for a few good titles he hasn't played yet.

Great site. Love the articles.

Stumbled on to this website about a month ago, was able to find Um Jammer Lammy for 4 bucks shipped off her and have been lurking ever since. I have a serious nintendo bias I basically got hooked on this website because I have completely leglected sega systems my whole life and its got a buncha info on that stuff. So I'm looking for advice on sega games, good games/places to find cheap systems I'm seriously clueless when it comes to anything sega. I did just buy a dreamcast and a couple games from my brother and so far it's awesome.

I also have a minor collection punk/hardcore/metal records and noticed that there were a couple people in this thread that mentioned they did too so if you sell and trade records too let me know.

Hey everyone my name is Taylor, I used to post here a while back but have no clue as to what my account/e-mail/password information is so here I am with a new account! Feel free to just skim this, its kind of long... I didn't know how in-depth I should make it

A little bit about me: Some of my favorite things include retro-videogaming, horror/science-fiction/exploitation films, music and reading.
Favorite Games: Earthbound, Final Fantasy III (SNES), Chrono Trigger, Counter-Strike (1.6) and oh god... way too many.
Favorite Movies: This is seriously tough one, I'm more of a horror movie buff than I am a videogame one. But I'd have to say some of my favorites are Dead-Alive, Day of the Dead, (original) Night of the Living Dead, Horror Hotel, Evil Dead (series), BasketCase (series), I Spit On Your Grave, Cannibal Holocaust, list keeps on going and going and going...
Favorite Bands: Misfits (Danzig era 1977-1983), Joy Division, The Smiths, Modest Mouse, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, Integrity, American Nightmare/Give Up the Ghost, and God Is An Astronaut (to name a few)
Favorite Authors: Wes Eisold, Eric Paul, MAX G. MORTON, Kurt Vonnegut, Paul Neilan

agreed so do Integrity and American Nightmare, I guess there is some overlap in punk/hardcore and video game interests cause there are other people on this board that have mentioned hardcore bands as well

I think that there is a bad stigma around the word "hardcore" but it doesn't really mean anything about the band if they fall under that genre, and I know that The Smiths are not a hardcore band, but American Nightmare is and they're amazing. You could say they play "sad" music too.
