I suppose technically the version I'm playing isn't actually the PS2 version - it's the HD Collection rerelease.Nyukki wrote:Can I ask, are PS2 games on the Vita strictly official rereleases, VC type ports, or has someone finally cracked the vita to run emulators? Thanks, they're all games I've played a bit but never beat. I do remember disliking Viewtiful Joe as well, but my Gamecube gets so little love these days I thought I'd have another go.alienjesus wrote:
Pretty great list of 5 there. I adore Skies, Wonder Boy, Nights and Mario. I wasnt as keen on Viewtiful Joe though.
I will also agree that Cybernator is a worthy title. It's a tough game but fun.

I'm actually amazed you've never beaten some of those considering how much retro stuff you seem to play. It's a great list.BoneSnapDeez wrote:My dsheinem-approved list.

When I was a kid my video game playing time was greatly restricted, so I tended to give up on (challenging) classic games like Metroid and Zelda II way too easily. Playing through the same stages over and over would just feel like a waste of time. I think this may be one reason why I eventually gravitated to RPGs, as I was able to make a little bit of progress during each session of play, as opposed to getting halfway through a game, dying, and having to start over.
Nice to see we have one game in common too.
The one that's also known as XZR II.Ack wrote: Which Exile?
Though the European Exile does look kinda cool too.
Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
Yeah, and there's also an American RPG series released in the mid- to late-90s which was remade into the Avernum series. I actually think of these first when I think of Exile, as I played the first one around 2001 or so.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The one that's also known as XZR II.Ack wrote: Which Exile?

I should probably make a list of some sort, but truth be told I just haven't been playing many video games lately.
Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
Exile is actually one of the cheapest complete games you can get for Turbografx CD. I see those all the time on eBay for ~$30. Wonder why it is so cheap?

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
Alright. I completed nothing that was actually on my list last year.
So, I really want to finish it this year. I'd love to play MGS1 again, as I've been meaning to ... but my copy has disappeared. I have no idea where it is.
I also don't want to be too ambitious, I'm gonna list two sets of five where my main focus is the first five, the second five is "If I get there" ... because chances are I won't. Some stuff I've been looking forward to are coming out as well as my current backlog so, it's not a 100% open period of time for gaming.
None of these are really classics, I don't even want to hear anything about that.
StarTropics NES
I already owned the cartridge, but I just (unexpectedly) won a bid on eBay for it complete. I thought it'd be sniped ... it wasn't.
It's a game I've dabbled in before, but haven't ever dedicated real time to it.
Nightmare on Elm Street NES
I love this game, but I've never beaten it. I actually think it's a good game, so this should be fun. I've been pretty close to beating it before. The graveyard always gets me, though.
Omega Boost PS1
Awesome mech game. I've never made it past stage 5.
Spyro: The Dragon PS1
I've only played this once, and it was to make sure it worked. So, I need to remedy that.
Metroid Prime GCN
I've been trying to get to this game for entirely too long. And I think it's old enough to qualify. (Came out 12 years ago)

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2014
I did awesome last year with this, let's see if I can continue the greatness...
Summer 2013 - Bold Denotes Completion.
Here's my classics list:
1. Jet Grind Radio (DC)
2. Skies of Arcadia (DC)
3. Final Fantasy VIII (PSX)
4. Legend of Zelda (NES)
5. Illbleed (DC)
If the going goes well:
Some games that I've had but never ventured deeply into, others that are new additions that are regarded highly, and some that it's been some time since we've spent with each other. Verdict Dsheinem?
