Image Link Dump Thread.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I don't know about other people, but my "connecting" portion was never that long.
Of course it used to be even worse. Remember when AOL and others charged by the minute for use too? I remember someone obsessively doing 'flash sessions' that would just connect long enough to send and receive email and then disconnect to minimize racking up time.
I used to spend hours on AOL, but in a fashion that only actually consume a few minutes of my online time. AOL had a free help area, where you could read and post to a help message board. You couldn't send or receive email or messages from there, but you could compose and receive messages. So, I would sit in the free area, compose a message, send it (which conveniently displayed a prompt asking if you wish to leave the free area), them immediately hop back into the free area. I'd wait for a reply to my message, and repeat the process all night long.

It is a fan translation of the Super Famicom port included in Dragon Quest I & II (SFC).

Also, I love how, in Dragon Warrior, the King basically tells you:

"My daughter's been kidnapped! You're the only one who can rescue her!"

before giving you $20 and a stick. Moreover, he doesn't even open the doors in his own castle that lead to better weapons and more money. It is almost as if he doesn't actually want his daughter back (or that expects you to fail miserably).

Well if you think about it, lots of games do that.

"Oh save us from the big bad evil that will destroy our town/colony/city/kingdom/planet/universe".

"Ok fine, but all I have is this butter knife/slingshot/experimental spaceship that shoots tickle beams, those are some nice swords/machine guns/mega bombs/healing herbs/body armor/repulsor shields, why don't you let have some of those as I'm sure they'll help me defeat the evil."

"Oh no, those are going to cost you."

"But if you don't give them to me I might not succeed and you'll be enslaved or dead."

"I don't understand, the prices are right on them man. Pay up or get out."

With this "Police State" thing being a big issue right now, i think more people need to know their rights with police around.
