I decided to play a bit of this game.

pierrot - 191,578 - Mission 2 (boss)

Couldn't snap a picture fast enough at the gameover screen, so I had to drop a continue to see the high score. I went through the rest of my continues afterward to get better acquainted with the stage 2 boss (which is actually really easy) but lost most of those lives in stage 3. That place is ridiculous. I can't see a damn thing over that background.

Also, I'm sure the second half of stage 2 was not in anyway, shape or form inspired by stage 2 of Gradius II. Not even a little bit. No way.

Edit: Are there any extends in this game, or is it just 5 ships, and nothing else?

No extends. Tons of chances to revisit spots you thought you cleared already, though

Ah. So sort of "Assisted Suiciding" then?

Welcome to Chaos Field!

All I know as far as default settings go would be for the Gamecube port as follows:

Difficulty: Normal
Shield: 3
Extend: Type-1

I'm guessing it should be the same across the board.

I've been waiting to put a little more time in this one, after spending some time in the dedicated thread for it, which really needs to be updated by our nominator, the latest score I posted there is nearly a year old

I definitely wanna have another go at this.

I never really did fully understand the game when I initially played it.

WTF? I thought Chaos Field was June? I had planned for June anyway, so I guess I screwed up. Damn. My copy is on its way, but I probably won't have it for *at least* a week.

Nope, when I originally put together everything, each game was nominated perfectly as to be able to alternate each month from a modern shmup (after 1995) to a classic shmup (pre 1995). Hope you can join us soon, I'll be starting this up on Saturday. I had posted a great score in the dedicated thread last year.

well, I guess if I have to I can burn a disc while waiting for my physical copy to arrive. I'm just not really a fan of wasting a CDR on a game I paid good $ for. We'll see what this weekend looks like though. I still can't believe my oversight. I feel like an idiot as I had planned it out to buy CF late April/early May so I'd have it well before June. Dammit.
