tips on powerline

Post by RCBH928 »

Hello everyone,
I am going to install dreambox, if u dont know what that is, basically its a satellite receiver that you hook to the internet and get free cable, where i am I can do it and get away with it(For its price of $200 or so, you get what you should pay for like $1000 YEARLY!!!!!!!!)
cable is expensive here, but because of that I can also steal channels and not go to jails

any how, If any one has one of these babies, or if not, can any one tell me how does powerline wireless networking works, any tips or advice over this thing, does it really work using your electricity socketS?

I have to connect the dreambox to the DSL router via, but the router is in another room, so I have powerline option or wifi bridge

Ummm... I don't know where you live, I'm guessing Europe somewhere from the fact you own a Dreambox.

But using the Dreambox to log onto the internet and grab a decryption keys from other pirates who are card sharing is still illegal. Despite the fact the Dreambox is capable of it, doesn't mean it's legal. My PC is capable of downloading unreleased movies and videogames, doesn't make it legal. Nor does Dreambox endorse these practices and they void your warranty if they know you are.

Also be careful, not everyone shares their pay service with other people just for the hoots and hollars. The Dreambox is based on a modified linux distro, kind of similar to how the Tivo is based on Linux. Now I don't know what these card sharers are going to make you do to access their card, but they can most likely check who is connected to their card (if they are any one bit intelligent, if not them the designers of the software that performs the sharing), you don't want them cracking through your Dreambox into your local network. Of course it is Linux, but it isn't like you're inside there setting up the ipTables or anything...

As for accessing FTA broadcasting, yeah that is free and legal. But it wouldn't require internet connection as the signal isn't even encrypted and can be picked up with the bare minimum in hardware. And if you are in Europe your FTA broadcasting is pretty sweet... they even have FTA satellite which the US lacks. Especially Germany who has like 100 cable channels FTA.
