Just saying, whether through choice or involuntary compulsion from minor addiction, you saying it is easy to quit if you can hold out 3 days comes off as a delusional "I can quit any time I want to". One cigar a month or so is still a smoker.Luke wrote:When I choose to, yes. Without a doubt.Hobie-wan wrote: You're still a smoker though.

Delusional? Really?
I have no desire to quit smoking a cigar every month or so. A pack of smokes a day? No thank you. Quit that over a decade ago.
And there is no more addiction to me smoking cigars than there is to my example of liking a steak. For me a cigar is an "AttaBoy", much like a glass of scotch, a walk in the sun, petting my dog, driving with my windows down, brown paper packages tied up with string...
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Wow, that opened up a bunch of conversation!
I've never really had a problem putting the smokes down in the past for extended periods of time (talking years here). But this time is a bitch. I picked it back up last year when my mental state/work situation was quickly falling apart, so I'm thinking that may have something to do with it.
Gonna try again this weekend though. The girlfriend is out of town, so I'm gonna hole up with vidya, anime, cough drops (I smoke menthols), and toothpicks to try and kick junkie style by staying in the house/bed all weekend long. It's gonna be like one of those scenes from "Walk the Line" or "Ray," I imagine.
Cigars are a treat. Luke may be a "cigar smoker" by definition, but unless he's crawling out of his skin three hours after he smoked his last one, I'd say it's not a problem.

TSTR, try not to substitute if possible. But! If you think a few cough drops will help, go for it. Best of luck, and let us know if things get better after a few days. Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I'd argue lighting something on fire then hanging it our of your mouth while it smolders and having had to get used to it and not cough upon inhaling the smoke is pretty clearly a problem. Once an hour is just more of a problem than once a month.TSTR wrote:Cigars are a treat. LOL, Wednesday night is pretty much Racketboy Smoke Night (at least over here).
@noise - Don't tempt me, Brad!
I thought you were on that e-cig kick now anyways?
@Luke - Yeah, not really trying to substitute too much. Don't wanna get addicted to Halls. Mainly getting the toothpicks and cough drops just in case I feel like I need something in my mouth (heyooooo). Better than using nicotine gum or a patch, methinks.
@Hobie - You right. None is better than one, for sure. But we all have our vices. Just best not to let them control you (a little late, in my case).
Thanks for the encouragement, folks! (In all its forms, hehe.) Will keep y'all updated on how it goes.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Of course, hate smoking, not the smokers. Well, unless they're that bastard that gets 5 extra breaks a day at work because they have a filthy habit.
Anyway, good luck.
