So are podcasts even worth doing anymore other than for your own personal enjoyment? Maybe I've just never been a podcast person but it seems like a YouTube channel is by far the way to go in terms of getting people to listen to you. I'm not necessarily talking about monetizing something (I'm not that presumptuous), but more so in terms of getting enough hits, comments, etc. for it to be fulfilling.
Also, I am doing some off the cuff recordings of myself talking about games and this being my second or third attempt at this all time, I think they're half decent. I would like to get some feedback on them though not to pimp a channel or something but just to hear from other people whether or not I have a knack for this sort of thing. I looked at the Podcast forum and that seems to be for posts related to the RacketBoy podcast only, so I wasn't sure if there was anywhere on this site I could post the files.
Basically I want to get feedback, work out some kinks, then figure out if a YouTube channel is absolutely necessary. I am at the beginning stages of learning how to edit video but figured I'd take this approach in order to be thorough and put out something entertaining. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Questions About Gaming Podcasts
I know I'm still listening to gaming channels, as well as Youtube. I suppose the podcasts tend to be more news focused, while the videos (and channels) I subscribe to tend to be more focused on a particular game or topic. The two mediums serve a different purpose for me. Podcasts are for commuting and walking around. Youtube is on my laptop while I game, generally. I would say it's probably easier to build an audiance on Youtube because it is one ubiquitous portal to be discovered in. Most of my podcasts I found because they were spinoffs of sites I was already visiting.
Re: Questions About Gaming Podcasts
I enjoy doing a podcast, and it seems to get enough listeners to make it worthwhile. I think it is really just what you enjoy, whether that's video or audio. If you are passionate and articulate, you could go either way.
I agree with k.vlaros, that they are really things that aren't mutually exclusive. Each one has their place and time where they fit in.
