Why not? I think Cave actually found a lot of success in being exclusive on the 360, as it created a strong niche market with much less competition for attention than they'd have had on the PS3...

I just don't want to feel a need to buy the ONE. Truthfully, the only reason I bought a 360 was for the shmups. I just don't want to be sucked into another console with hardware and policies that make me tick in frustration, just because I needs my cotton candy colored, shoot-y spaceship candy.

I'm not convinced Cave wouldn't be in the same relative financial situation had they released more of their shmup catalog on the PS3 as well.

Hard to know. You have to figure MS is paying them something to remain exclusive also (or reducing their costs considerably, etc.). It will be interesting to see if they remain an MS-only developer (as far as consoles) in the future.

While that's certainly possible, I wouldn't think Cave would really register on Microsoft's list of developers that they need to keep exclusive to their platform.

At any rate, I think it's potentially more likely that Cave is on that list for a game like Instant Brain 2, rather than any shmups—which would more than likely be coming out of their back catalog, if anything; at which point, they'd generally be better served to release them for the 360. I suppose that would be barring digital-only releases, though.

Are they (Cave) finally going to make all games region free to boot? I remember MS said something about it will be the developer's choice on whether the game is region free or not.

Another chance to re-rerelease their shooting collection box set

I wish they would put games out on the WiiU with iOS touchscreen-style controls

Sadly, if CAVE releases another arcade shooter it will be on the strictly Japanese NESiCA x Live system or now possibly the xbone... neither of which could theoretically be enjoyed on my Egret II
boo hoo. as if i don't already have 100 lifetimes worth of shooting games to keep me busy

Once again, company which niche catalogue of video games goes with system expected to have lowest market share in region best suited for retail success. Futility, ho!

The Xbox 360 was the console of choice for a certain kind gamer in Japan. It had releases of fighters, visual novels, shmups and other similar games that weren't available in any other platform. It made sense for Cave to publish its games for it, specially given how easy to develop for it is.

Still wondering why CAVE doesn't do Steam.

Because they hate money and don't want to offer a profitable alternative to piracy? :|

Who's to say they would make more money via Steam? If Microsoft wants them as an exclusive dev, you can be sure they're paying well for it. I've heard mixed things about Steam's revenue splits and fees, so it's not all roses and sunshine on the PC side of things. That being said, I'm sure a lot of CAVE stuff will end up on Steam eventually anyway.
