Madworld looks interesting, but nothing that interests me much more than No More Heroes (That is, I take a quick look at it, say "Hmm, that looks kinda interesting" and then move on to something else). Tatsunoko vs Capcom is the only reason I haven't sold my Wii yet. Haven't played with it since Mario Kart Wii, and honestly, that game wasn't a big enough improvement over Double Dash that I wasn't bored with it after winning a few cups in about an hour or two.
The Dead Rising port looks so poorly done I'd be better off coughing up the money for a 360 or waiting for its inevitable release on the PC or PS3. If they broke exclusivity once it'd be stupid to expect it not to happen again.
I've lost all hope for a good Sonic game as they insist on throwing him in 3D environments with some gimmick they hope will save the game from mediocrity (a sword, a gun, werewolves, finicky 3-man team machanics), which in the end is like expecting a spray of Fabreeze to get the stink out of poop.
Yeah, Q1 sucks for every console. What is worse is that Q4 of this year sucked for Wii too, while PS3 and X360 had so many Triple-A titles that I couldn't possibly hope to catch up with all of them by next Christmas. The Wii began life on November 2006 and promptly died November 2007 with Mario Galaxy being it's "Blaze of Glory". Smash Bros and Mario Kart were just the attempts to shoot enough electricity into the corpse to make it twitch a bit.
The DS, on the other hand... I'd probably take me 5 years of straight playing games just to get through all the DS that are worth playing out right now. I don't see a shortage anytime soon for the DS and even if there ever is one, there is a huge back-catalog of DS gems that got lost in the floods of recent past, not to mention all the great GBA games no one seemed to give two dead flies about.
Do you enjoy disappointment?
Re: Do you enjoy disappointment?
Ugh,
I'm really getting sick of people saying the Wii is "dead". That's rubbish. The thing hasn't been out for much longer then 2 years, it's kinda early to write it off and act like it'll never have anything worthwhile from now on.
Little King’s Story, House of the Dead: Overkill, MadWorld, Muramasa: Demon Blade, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, New Punch-Out!!, Sin & Punishment 2, Disaster, The Conduit, and Monster Hunter 3 are all likely coming next year. There's at least talk of bringing Tatsunoko vs Capcom to the States, as well as Fatal Frame 4. Wii Tap could be interesting. Plus there's the WiiWare and Virtual Console. And of course there's whatever else Nintendo themselves have in store for the next year (Pikmin Wii and Kid Icarus are possibilities).
I'm not saying that the Wii couldn't stand to get some more killer apps, because it could, but I'd be silly to write off the whole system. Maybe I'm just more easily placated, but I'm not strung out about this.

I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

Re: Do you enjoy disappointment?
Yeah, the Wii could surprise us again just like it surprised us by doing well the first year it was out. I've just learned to not take anything on faith anymore. So far, the only thing I've heard Nintendo is working on (aside from Gamecube ports) is 'Wii Sports Resort'. Incredible.
I don't get excited about a game until it actually hits anyway, because God only knows what will actually make it to shelves, considering how game companies have been dropping like flies lately. And God only knows what will hit and actually be as good as we were all hoping it would be.
Punch-Out, for example, is being made by Next Level Games, makers of the good Mario Strikers series, the decent Ticket to Ride, and the disappointing Spider-Man: Friend or Foe. With such an inconsistent track record, it feels like gambling to get excited over it.

Re: Do you enjoy disappointment?
I've had it with Nintendo
if they want to go cheap on us with crappy titles, I will go cheap on them too
Thats it I am going to install mod-chip on this thing and just play pirated copies
The system is not worth it, VC has no space to store and emulating is free and just as good(although some titles worth the money) , online gameplay is hardly exciting, the channels are hardly being used as they are supposed to. The games sucks as much as they can, there are only like 10-15 games worth it on the wii in TWO YEARS. Compare that with 360 or ps3....
they want to go the casual way, I will give them casual...
The two or three titles that are worth purchasing every year, ill pay for them, anything of a port and stupid silly games, ill just not pay for it because it doesn't deserve it.

You guys are forgetting Castlevania Judgement. Remember, it's not a fighting game, it's a 3D versus action game!

That does look really weak...but I just got my Wii a couple weeks ago. I have tons of games to go through before I have to worry about new releases
Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

The way I see it; Kororinpa 2, Rune Factory, and House of the Dead,
that's one a month and that is probably more than Ill be able to fully
play. Onichabara and the "play on wii's" will probably be bought
aswell – but are not priorities. Overall itll keep me satisfied, so I
consider it a decent schedule.
Honestly it seems like everyone is overtly critical of everything
Nintendo does nowadays. But I guess it could be from my recent
shifted from buying mostly good games to buying mostly fun games that
blinds my opinion. For example Samba De Amigo for the Wii is poor
compared to the Arcade or Dreamcast versions, but for $20 it provides
hours of fun. And before someone knocks me on it, yes I own both
versions on the Dreamcast and have two sets of EMS reds. But no I
have not bought the maraca extensions for the Wii yet, looking for
some that support dual Wiimotes instead of Wiimote/Joystick.
Sure it is no all star lineup, but heck its got promise. And if
Square delivers on FFCC well thatll make me an even more happy with
the lineup.
As a side note:
I am saddened to see the terms hardcore and casual thrown around so
much nowadays. I ask of you, what is hardcore?
The last time I was in a gamestore, two nights ago, some guys were
wailing on Guitar Hero and when they saw I was holding the SNK
collection for the Wii they started laughing. Since I had nothing
else going on that evening I decided to engage them. I asked them why
they were laughing and they told me that it was because I was a casual
gamer. Now that's something that I guess is understandable, I don't
look like your typical gamer anymore, but when I asked what they were
playing they responded with Halo 3, GTA 4, and Guitar Hero 4. So I
asked if they even knew what SNK was, they had no dignified response
("makes shit" doesn't count as an answer). And when I explained it to
them they couldn't have cared less and continued to play Guitar Hero.
The guy at the counter was on their side and mocked me for purchasing
the title. I "politely" told him to rack off, and left the store. On
the flipside, when I entered the other game store I went to that
evening, the clerk answered the questions I had to the best of his
ability and didn't mock me when I told him I am not a big Guitar Hero
fan. Actually he shocked me when he said he was a bit of a Guitar
Freaks fan – something he is made fun of by his coworkers who have
claimed it was a Guitar Hero knockoff.
To get back to my point, what is considered hardcore nowadays? Is it all
gore, semiporn, and American rhythm games?

That's when you ask them when their concert is, and mock them for not playing real instruments. Sorry to anybody that plays 'rock musician simulators' i just find it really stupid. Go home pick up a real guitar, and play to a CD or something.fastbilly1 wrote: I am saddened to see the terms hardcore and casual thrown around so

A hardcore game to me is a game that you need to take your time with, and constantly need be on your A-game to progress through. These games tend to be "Insert Credit Games". IC games were designed for arcades, which means the developers wanted to make money, by making you put your money in the machine...which is done by making a HARDCORE game.
Casual games would then be, games that you can pick up...casually, and can play half-assed through and still succeed.
P.S. If you're good at SNK games I wouldn't call you casual

Re: Do you enjoy disappointment?
Must be where you guys live. The people who work at the Gamestops and EB Games stores around me know their shit and they would surely give a knowing wink or roll their eyes if a bunch of guys who don't even know anything about SNK called someone else a casual gamer.
I rarely leave a Gamestop or EB around me without chatting a bit with whoever is working there about how awesome something like Disgaea is, discussing music for Final Fantasy games, how to hack a PSP or just discussing how Castlevania:Order of Ecclesia compares to Symphony of the Night, etc. Yeah, there are guys there into the more popular stuff, but I have never seen someone who would actually consider a couple of guys who play Guitar Hero or Halo as "hardcore".
I often smile listening to them try and explain things to the ignorant(and I mean that in a somewhat nice way)customers they get who really don't know their games. With me, they don't have to say much. They'll usually cut straight to some kind of question that a person would only ask me knowing I'm a real gamer, which they can usually tell just from seeing what I buy
