Game Cart Maintenance Help
Game Cart Maintenance Help
I was just recently cleaning my collection of Nintendo 64 carts and I was wondering if any dust covers ever existed for them like the Snes ones? I also have a few carts with some front label damage that is kinda gross. I'm not really a perfectionist but I do like to have my carts aesthetically pleasing. I was wondering if anyone knew about printing off your own labels for carts on some kind of sticker paper because I can't seem to find any info anywhere and it seems strange that no one would have already done such a thing. Anyway, if you have any info or any tips on how you keep your carts clean feel free to contribute.

I've never seen any dust covers for the 64. Would be sweet if such a thing existed though.
As for maintenance, Goo Gone/Goof Off and Baby Wipes are my fav.
Goo Gone/Goof Off removes any sticker residue (or stickers for that matter) pretty well. You just have to be careful not to get any on the label or back sticker.
For cleaning junk off of labels baby wipes work awesome. They dont damage the label and you game smells great after. Also its an easy way to just spiff up any game thats gotten dusty.
And of course Q-tips and rubbing alchohol for those hard to reach places and the Pin Connectors.

I know The Cover Project has been working on getting a collection of labels for cartridge games, and focusing on the N64. They have a good guide on their site for replacing damaged labels.

I have been using a bottle of Goo Gone and it does work great for the crap from Game Rental stickers, I never thought of baby wipes though so I'll try some of those out. Also thanks for the info MrPopo I found http://www.thecoverproject.net/index.php and it's like exactly what I was looking for.
