Good luck! I think that Neo Exdeath is the most difficult final boss in any Final Fantasy games. (Only the Dark Cloud in FFIII comes close.) I had to pull out every trick in the book to beat him. (That said, I wasn't very good at RPGs back then, and I suspect my party was under-leveled.)Melek-Ric wrote:FFVA Update:
At the last save before fighting Exdeath in his castle. Seems like a Geomancer's abilities may have been nice to have for some of the hazards in this place. Oh well. I just used !Flee for the burning floor sections. Already fought Gilgamesh.

I think you misunderstand. I'm But I'll take your luck with in into the next.
Last FF I beat was FFIII. Void was tough. But I've read that the remake I played is easier than the original?

Ahhh...gotcha. Well...good luck anyway! If you don't need it now, you will need it by the end.Melek-Ric wrote:I think you misunderstand. I'mBut I'll take your luck with in into the next.

Also, did you play the DS version of FFIII? That is the version I played, and I frmo what I understand it is not much easier than the NES original.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I actually played the iOS version. I sold my DS before it was released. Maybe someone on this thread can comment on the difficulty of Famicom FFIII compared to the remake.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I'd stick with Rapid Fire on your Ninja for that fight; you won't be able to hit Exdeath's weakness with Sword Magic at this time so it won't give you as much damage as Rapid Fire would. Naturally you'll want to do Rapid Fire + Spell Blade for your end game party (on a Freelancer so you get the dual wield).

This skill set plus the "mime" ability carried me through the last battle.MrPopo wrote:I'd stick with Rapid Fire on your Ninja for that fight; you won't be able to hit Exdeath's weakness with Sword Magic at this time so it won't give you as much damage as Rapid Fire would. Holy shit how did you do this? Are you a time-traveler?? Are you ZenErik?!Melek-Ric wrote:I sold my DS before it was released.
Famicom FFIII is hard as nuts. I'm hoping the DS version is the same. I love difficult RPGs.

Re: RPG Progress Report
It certainly "feels" like an 8-bit RPG. Moreover, the trek to the final boss is insanely long and difficult, and the remake - much like the original - doesn't give you any "in-dungeon" save points. I had to "surface" out of the dungeon 8-10 times before I beat the game, and I had many of my job skills maxed out before I took on the Cloud of Darkness. It was still a difficult fight, and I hope you enjoy the game.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Famicom FFIII is hard as nuts. I'm hoping the DS version is the same. I love difficult RPGs.
EDIT: I would love to see a sequel/spin-off of FFIII where you get to play as the Warriors of Darkness. That component of FFIII's storyline was so compelling to me.

Yeah I teleported out a few times as well. The quick-save feature made that final dungeon manageable. I'd get worn-down, quick-save, then take a long break. I'd come back fresh, ready to kickass and chew bubblegum.prfsnl_gmr wrote: I had to "surface" out of the dungeon 8-10 times before I beat the game, and I had many of my job skills maxed out before I took on the Cloud of Darkness.
Okay I'll take your advice. Up until this point I've typically used Spellblade mostly for boss fights. Bio, Break, and Drain are favs. I'm guessing Freelancer using Holy blade + RF + DW will wreak Exdeath at the end of the game.MrPopo wrote:I'd stick with Rapid Fire on your Ninja for that fight; you won't be able to hit Exdeath's weakness with Sword Magic at this time so it won't give you as much damage as Rapid Fire would.
