I have issues with some of mine too. I suppose it is appropriate that In the Hunt is the worst since it is a submarine shooter.

The bigger the piece of paper, the more susceptible it is to warping. Also the round bottom of most CD trays is pretty much flat against the bottom piece. If you pop out the tray in a SCD case, if you look there's a ridge around the edge of the rectangle that's at the bottom of the case. However the large area is a hair thickness up/down from that, so it won't press the paper flat in a sandwich which allows the damp paper to warp more.

this just adds to my resolve to only buy sega cd and saturn games disc only and then print my own artwork for a dvd case. the notoriously cracked and broken cases were the main reason, but this would dive me crazy.

Re: Wavy back inserts on Saturn and Sega CD games.
Unfortunately video games are manufactured cheaply being a consumable commodity, and not something meant to last unscathed through the ages. So as others have said, it's humidity causing the "wavy" problem. Paper constantly absorbs and releases water in and out of surrounding air contorting itself as it does so. That copy of PDS is about sixteen years old now, and that's nearly 6000 days of humidity working its way in and out of the paper in that case hour after hour. It's unrealistic to think the paper would remain pristine through all of that without being stored in a constant temperature/humidity/UV controlled environment.
This is why I run a dehumidifier in the room that I keep my vast game collection in, and keep the sun out of it, and the temperature low at all times. I'm that guy.

Yea... In the Hunt needs to be wavy obviously! The only reason it's bugging me is it's pretty much the only game in my collection of over 3000 games that I went on ebay to get because it's one of my favorite games ever
(I modded my saturn in 2009 to play it)and I've never seen one in the wild in more than ten years and when you pay market price for something and it's not "perfect" it kinda makes you upset, but I think I have to be realistic about the situation. it's a 16 year old game in awesome shape that's very rare with a pristine book etc. that happens to have some small warping int he back which is not odd it seems. Part of me wants to return it and look for another one, but I think i'd probably end up in another situation like this and just make the seller upset as he wasn't trying to deceive me...This is what i get when i don't just find a super awesome rare game at a yard sale. Then the condition doesn't bug me so much because I have nothing invested.

eBay just made the whole return process a bitch for sellers. Any returns count as a defect on your account the second they are opened. Policy doesn't come into affect till August 20th but they are using the prior twelve months in the first evaluation
. The new defect system is harsh as hell to so he might be reluctant to admit the item was not as described. However If he fights it and loses his account is essentially toast as well though
.
eBay will back the Buyer 100% of the time though so if you want to return it very likely they will assist you in every way possible and pretty much there are very few if any negative effects on your account as long as you stay civil in your communications with the buyer.

Re: Wavy back inserts on Saturn and Sega CD games.
Yea, I have sold and bought on Ebay for ten years and even though I have never had a buyer return something ( I am extremely descriptive to every detail) I do know that the buyer wins out no matter what. Any seller who puts up a fight is just going to harm himself even more in the end...which is messed up, but true. As a seller you just might as well say yes to any return because as soon as the buyer files a claim you have no choice.
I don't understand these sellers who list things as "like new" and then have ZERO description of the item and when you message them they give you some kinda short response like "everything is perfect" Then you get it and there are scratches, folds etc. Do they just want to make their life harder by not describing things correctly? I have delt with this a few times. For this particular purchase of PDS the seller said he couldn't find a single scratch on the disks yet there are obvious light scratches on a few of the disks...That kinda pissed me off too. Just be honest with me and save yourself the trouble! I don't get these people. It seems I only get accurately described products off forum members.

Yeah guys like that piss me off as well. I never go past acceptable unless the game is complete and in decent shape even then I rarely venture past the "good" rating. Yet I see people all the time listing disc only games as like new and the amount of people who just use stock photos drives me nuts
.
Re: Wavy back inserts on Saturn and Sega CD games.
They must like doing returns and losing money and time by not spending an extra minute describing the product correctly. I do not understand that logic. I actually just found a PDS on ebay for 499.99 BIN and the description says everything is mint, but in the picture you can see the book has all kinds of damage... I am still debating if i should return it or not. I just got it yesterday.

Yes that burns me up when people say in the description stuff like "disc is mint" or "no scratches on disc", and then you get the disc and it has scratches. Or if not, it has been obviously resurfaced badly. Congratulations seller you're going to give my money back or receive negative feedback at least. The only way to encourage some people to be honest is to punish them unfortunately.loganm187 wrote:short response like "everything is perfect" Then you get it and there are scratches
Well guy if you're willing to pay the measly price of $2,999.00 there's an auction for a sealed PDS that seems to have non-wavy inserts: link

Actually now I think about it, maybe you could cut a piece of thin cardboard and put it behind the tray in that will help press it flat by filling that indented bit. I'd use something acid free like a comic book backing board. I might try that on my In the Hunt at some point and see if it helps.
