Got my TATE set up, been really getting in to Dimahoo since I figured out the whole magic and elemental thing. Also couldn't get Battle Bakraid to work on Shmupmame so have been playing Battle Garegga.

Which version of the rom are you trying to use? I know that some versions of MAME require a different rom than others. e.g. bkraidu, bkraidj, bkraiduj. If you're using Shmupmame 4.2, then you should be looking for these roms: bbakraid, bbakraidja, bbakraidj. The first one is the parent rom, so that should be all you need.

Shmupmame 4.2 is based on MAME 0.148. I have an old romset from something like 0.132 that I got from UG years ago, and the current rom I got (bkraidu) is I think from the 0.150 romset (from Emuparadise). So I guess its a romset issue. Been trying to get on the Pleasuredome tracker but it loads really slow over here.

I'll follow your suggestion and directly hunt for a bbakraid parent and see what happens.

Also, bought the Ikaruga PC version yesterday, so will be giving that a bash tonight! TATE-style!

As of MAME 0.141u4, bbakraid is the new parent (from bkraidu), it's still the USA Unlimited version, but with a new name. Look for that one.

It's TRP-STGT 2014 over on Shmups Forum and the first game is Raiden Fighters. I just managed an 18.3 million score, which is higher than anything posted so far, but I expect that won't last too long. Looking at the high score thread for RF, one of my teammates actually has a 50 million score, so hopefully we should do quite well this week.

I like to play some shmups, but never really knew where to start. Then I decided the DoDonPachi series sounds interesting, so I'm trying to 1CC DonPachi before I move on to DDP, but I couldn't resist waiting. DDP is much more satisfying!

I will be starting R-Type Delta very soon. For my information - and so I know what I am getting into - is it more like R-Type (i.e., memorization, crushing difficulty) or R-Type Final (i.e., reflexes, strategy, manageable difficulty)?
