How much time did you drop on DQIX? I put nearly 150 hours into it, and I was nowhere close to 100%...

Also, I completely agree that Katamari Damacy and DQIII are amazing games. (Seriously, they are so good, and I wish I was playing them right now.)

V is decent but I vastly prefer IV and VI (duh). I was never in love with the job system, it feels like a lot of micromanagement.

In the ice caverns of Ys II.
See, I much prefer V to IV because of the job system. I liked being able to craft my party using the jobs, and it is fun to figure out all the nice combinations. VI had a similar thing using relic combinations and some of the party skills. IV ends up being too railroaded in that respect; your party is always the same at every point in the story.

I love the Job system. It makes grinding fun to me. I always feel like I'm working toward something new. It's going to be hard playing FFI next and not be able to switch jobs. Then FFII's screwy system!

I've chosen this play thru to acquire all the Blue magic spells. It's been fun hunting for them. Blue mage is quite the utility class. I appreciate it a lot more than I did prior.

I found Blue magic to be quite gamebreaking if you make a point of getting everything from the point you can first learn them. About the only thing that keeps it in check is you can't use it with Dualcast.

Started out Final Fantasy PSP tonight. Party is Warrior, Thief, Red Mage, White Mage. All level 9 currently; took a break when I arrived at Elfheim.

On Oath: I didn't hate the game, but it did not feel like an Ys game to me. I have only played the TG games, and they all feel very similar in their approach. I liked the graphics, the lower amount of dialogue, the still anime-esk scenes, the short-but-sweet length. Oath just didn't capture this for me. Also, I much prefered Dogi when he talked less.

Not an unplayable game, or even a bad game, but it did not sate my Ys urge like I-III did on the Turbo.

200 hours in, what is wrong with me.
X/Y? This is exactly why I didn't get it LOL.
Yes indeed!

For anyone just seeking the main game, it is only about a 40 hour journey. Its the end-game content that has stolen away all of my free time. Anyone familiar with IV Breeding, EV Training, Shiny Hunting, etc, knows what I am talking about. Game Freak also really upped their involvement with the competitive scene. Now we have ranked online matches, 2v2 battles, the Global Trading System, all sorts of new stuff in X/Y.

Ooops forgot about that one too. DQ games keep coming out of the woodwork.

I was able to roll through it pretty quickly (I have the excellent Brady Games guides for both IX and VI) but I'm sure I still went over 60.

You should still check out The Dawn of Ys, The Mask of the Sun, and part V.

I definitely plan on checking out Dawn of Ys and The Mask of the Sun. Those both look like games I would enjoy. Ys V, on the other hand, looks a little odd. Seems to be more of a traditional RPG than an Ys game, just from a glance.

I think I've asked before, but which Ys IV should I start with?

Oh, and my progress in Pokemon... at 207 hours now. Been trying to breed a 5 IV Modest Shiny Charmander with the Masuda Method for a few days. Decided to take a break yesterday.

My girl was under the weather, so while she was napping I decided to try to catch her favorite poke from this newest gen, Skrelp, as a shiny. Used Chain Fishing as the hunting method, and within 100 catches I managed to find one. She was quite pleased when she came out of the room, and saw my ds sitting in front of her, with a "Choose a Nickname" screen open for her to name her new shiny Skrelp!

So, now back to Charmander breeding. I've currently hatched over 600 eggs, and nothing yet.

I have the beginnings of my competitive team ready to go, and did some online matches yesterday as well. Haven't lost a match yet!

I realize this is probably a foreign language to most folks, but maybe it will be interesting. If nothing else, you all can gawk at how much time I spend doing quite silly things in this game

It really doesn't matter. If you want to stick to strict chronological order, Mask of the Sun was technically released before The Dawn of Ys.... by like a month.

Ys V feels a lot different from the other titles, yeah. The bump system is gone, Adol can jump, and graphically it looks quite different too. It's a great game in its own right though, and the last 2D Ys title.

I've been playing Final Fantasy X HD off and on, using the expert sphere grid. My plan is to turn the girls into my warriors, then have them dabble into magic once they have some good strength stats. But man, there's a lot less strength nodes than I thought along these initial paths. It seems that the 10 points of initial strength over the girls that the guys have really makes a difference.
