:) Buddy came through with tickets to Dark Lord Day at Three Floyd's Brewery. Really psyched to drink a ton of expensive, neckbeard-level craft beer and watch some gnarly metal bands.

Professional, you sound surprised.

Smile: The mulch company delivered out pine straw right on time...

Frown: And ran straight into my wife's parked car, bending her entire trunk inward. Probably between $500-$700 worth of damage.

Luckily she is on Spring break, so hopefully she can get it repaired before Monday.

Frown: We need about six more bails of pine straw.

Smile: Guy is going to cut us a break because he ran into my wife's car. It's about $22 worth of pine straw, and a $22 delivery fee, so we asked him to waive the fee.

Crazy Monday so far. My wife and i also learned we are allergic to pine straw, and my arms are budding with hives.

North Carolina's population is divided roughly 50/50 between Democrats and Republicans. Nonetheless, 9 of our 13 representatives to the U.S. House are Republicans, and the number of votes it takes to elect a Democrat to the House of Representatives in this state is roughly three times the number of votes it takes to elect a Republican. That is wrong. It was wrong when the Democrats gerrymandered the state in the 1990s and 2000s, and it is wrong that the Republicans are doing it now.
You seem to be forgetting something, though:
This is 'murca, where the votes count about as much as the points in "Whose Line Is It Anyway?".

I actually discussed my disagreement with this studies' results in another thread...Moreover, I very much doubt that spectators at the "NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at the zMAX Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway" are rich and powerful representatives of the American oligarchy. (I did not attend the event, however; so, I could be wrong about this...)

Really? Word. While I'm genuinely disenchanted regarding nearly everything American politics, I do find it a very fascinating field. Do you remember where you wrote it? I'd love to read :D

I was mostly replying to the quoted text. Gerrymandering is something I chalk up as standard political fare.

i think that prfsnl_gmr is mostly dissatisfied with the gerrymandering in his district because he has an elected official that he doesn't feel aligns well with his political leanings, and that the gerrymandering in his area has made it difficult to get a representative in office that is truly representative of the area he or she represents.

but why a conservative north carolinian congressman would be at a drag show is what's really beyond me. :?

I think they would win every time if they are at that kind of drag race.
