What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'm shocked no one is talking about Singer.

After getting home last night/morning, I watched my favorite film of all time, HARVEY. Hey, it's almost Easter and it "stars" a rabbit.

Watched Insidious Chapter 2 last night. Wasn't as scary as the first but was still a decent flick..

Looks like chapter 3 should be pretty interesting based on the ending. It's slated to come out in 2015. Didn't realize Jurassic World(Jurassic Park 4) was in filming. Bumped into it while checking out Insidious :). Thought that series was done for sure after the last one glad to see I was wrong :).

The suspicious timing of the allegations is most likely the reason.

I watched Alien last night. This is the first time I've actually watched the movie all the way through. I've seen bits and pieces when I was younger but now I've seen it all.

Really damn good and I'll probably watch Aliens tonight or tomorrow sometime.

What's the consensus on Alien 3 and the fourth one? Are they just "okay"?

I think in general Alien 3 is hit and miss with a lot of people and 4 is considered a joke by most of the "hardcore" fans.

Uwe Boll's best film to date, and that's not saying much.

My thoughts on the series:
  • Alien - Awesome horror monster movie in space. A single Alien hunts down the entire crew of a spaceship. One of Ridley Scott's finest movies.
  • Aliens - Less horror, more action. A whole nest of aliens versus space marines. Think Alien meets Terminator. In fact, this was directed by James Cameron, and in the climax Sigourney Weaver fights the Alien Queen in a giant robo-suite. Turn off your brain; pop some popcorn. Enjoy this movie for the fun action it is rather than the horror it isn't.
  • Alien3 - Depressing ruminations on freewill, faith, and sacrifice. More horror again, but this time with lots of dry dialog. Still watchable.
  • Alien: Resurrection - Awful. Simply terrible cashin on the franchise. Proof that Joss Whedon is capable of writing a poor movie.
  • Alien VS Predator - Less than I was hoping for, but passable as a popcorn flick. Turn off your brain even more than you turned off your brain for Aliens.
  • AVP Requiem - Haven't even bothered to watch it. This is so far from the source that I cannot imagine it to be good.
  • Prometheus - Cool Sci-Fi movie unto itself, but fails to explain anything about the "Alien" universe. I probably would have liked this more if I had not walked in expecting an Alien movie as this is only related to Alien on a tangent. This might have been a better movie if Ridley Scott had not tried to connect it back to his original Alien from 1979.

Wait, Prometheus is supposed to tie into the Aliens franchise? Did not know this.

I really didn't have any interest in the AVP stuff anyway.

Are you talking about the one where a guy works in the morgue?
Actually I'm talking about the Russian urban fantasy film adaptations of the Sergei Lukyanenko World of Watches novels, which were directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

A double feature of sorts:

Not bad for a made-for-TV movie made in the '90s.
