So Saturday I went for a haircut. My barbershop is in downtown of a small country town, but it has some very interesting things going for it. So while my barbershop is an old style one, where you get one of four haircuts, sit in church pews until you are called, and they have and use radiators over central heat, the shop two doors down is a local coffee place that does custom roasted coffee beans. Usually my time before getting a haircut is spent reading or fiddling on my telephone, but this time I walked in and they were rocking a Panasonic Panasonic-SE-3160D turntable with built in 8track deck, spinning Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. We spent the entire haircut talking about rebuilding speakers and fixing turntables.
My Dr Demento should be in today, just in time for me to be able to fix my coffee pot.

I have a 1988 Bunn VPR that is not dripping correctly. Bought it at Goodwill for $25, knowing that if it was toast on the whole the parts would be usable on my churches 1990 VPR. Sadly, we recently found out it is too big for where our normal coffee pot sits:Luke wrote:This is the weirdest sentence I may have ever read.fastbilly1 wrote: My Dr Demento should be in today, just in time for me to be able to fix my coffee pot.

i do listen to albums on my ipod (or computer) by myself all the time, but i agree with the second statement here as well, but i wouldn't limit it to vinyl LPs. i get the same feeling throwing on a cassette, or a cd, or plugging my phone in and listening to something from spotify or whatever.Luke wrote:I know you can listen to a full album on an ipod, but rarely do people do so.
There's something about placing that record on the turntable, amping up the stereo, and then spending the next hour listening. It's your own private concert.

Hell yes.Luke wrote:I'm a music junkie. Like a heroine addict, I dedicate my day to the ritual. I set up shop, pick a place on the couch, juice up the music, and devote the next hour or so in bliss.
I don't play cards, I don't read a book, my mind barely wanders. I'm listening to a full album to enjoy the full album. I know you can listen to a full album on an ipod, but rarely do people do so.

Record Store Day tomorrow, anyone going out to get some limited edition releases?

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

yeah, i agree. nothing really mind-boggling for me, as a fan of mainly punk, metal and hip hop records.noiseredux wrote:this was the shittiest line-up of RSD releases since its inception, man.aaron wrote:i'm gonna head out and try to grab a copy of the springsteen record, but there's not much else i give a hoot about this year.skate323k137 wrote: Record Store Day tomorrow, anyone going out to get some limited edition releases?
i DID score two copies of the springsteen record (one for me and one for my gf) after going to four different shops. pretty popular for some reason. also got the Wanda Jackson 7" and last year's Wanda Jackson LP at a discounted rate for my girlfriend. not a bad haul.

The Ghostbusters record is the one I want most out of the list, but not for the $100ish it is going for on ebay.aaron wrote:yeah, i agree. nothing really mind-boggling for me, as a fan of mainly punk, metal and hip hop records.noiseredux wrote:this was the shittiest line-up of RSD releases since its inception, man.
