Started out promising, but quickly fell apart thanks to cryptic dialogue, unlikeable protagonists and uneven pacing. When a film tries to ram so much information into forced dialogue scenes then it's not a good adaptation really.
It's been compared to Gilliam's Brazil, but unfortunately it falls flat on most accounts. Might be worth your time on Netflix though. Just be cautioned that the second half of the film is mind-numbing compared to the first.
While not being as cynical as the first film and benefiting from having more room to breathe, it's still really uneven and things from the lighting to cinematography can make it seem like three separate films have been sewn together. It's also clear this film went through numerous redrafts as the Goblin isn't as major a part of the movie as he should be considering the climax.

My feeling is that webb is just not an action director. He probably focuses on the one on one dramatic scenes and hands off the other stuff to 2nd unit and the fight choreographer. And the CGI guys who evidently go wild...

I haven't heard anything positive about Amazing 2 yet.
I really enjoy spy thriller/conspiracy style movies, with the conspiracy part set in WW2/Cold War. Stuff like the tapes from the dharma initiative in Lost, or that scene in Captain America 2
where they go in the bunker
, always give me goosebumps of excitement (not sure if that makes sense).
Anyway, anyone know any movies like that with some nice plot twists, for me to watch?

Check out Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Great cast with some clever twists.

Oh man, check out, "The Lives of Others," which is a great german foreign film that takes place after World War II and is a member of East Germany's Secret Police, tasked with monitoring a well renowned musician. The reasons as to why and what happens is an awesome series of events. I could not recommend this film more.
There is also a great movie called, "Conspiracy," starring Kenneth Branagh and Stanley Tucci that takes place in World War II, chronicling the meeting that would decide what to do to rid the world of Jews. For being a film that takes place almost entirely in a single room, the conversations involved are both chilling and incredibly well executed. I highly recommend it.
